In the broadcast the other day, they said he asked to come off the bench. Allegedly.

Another solid game off the bench, and +21 tonight.

Calling it now: This was a great fucking pickup for Houston. He's trash as a starter, yes, but as long as he knows his role, it makes Houston a better and deeper team. I would've liked him on the Spurs, but I guess the FO is content with only having one legitimate small forward on the team.

He can't play SF offensively or defensively. Houston uses him strictly as a 4.

Yeah, you're right. He got torched last year playing SF (but would he still be a better choice than Daye or Anderson?). Wonder how he would fit in our PF rotation? Can't use him as a stretch 4. Can't use him as a point forward (like Diaw). Can't use him as a defensive paint anchor.

He could play alongside Diaw as a 4th big, but the frontcourt would be pretty small (tho Smith is a good rebounder). His ballhandling isn't too bad either. The problem is he's a cancer.

Still took five threes last game and will never stop wasting possessions with the notion that he can shoot as long as he is in the league apparently so would never want him on my team

Rockets are the scariest team in the NBA right now.

All they have to do is release Josh Smith and they immediately become the best team in the league.

He was playing against one of the 3 worst defensive frontcourts in the league, tbh..

Smith looks fine in the post and going against players his own size in the paint, but he's going to keep taking those long 2s and 3s with Houston playing him at Point Forward..even with Howard, their spacing sucks, so he'll keep shooting those ugly jump shots..

It's so out of place to see long twos for the Rockets, I wonder when coach will pull the leash.

McFail did one right thing and that is moving him to the bench, he should just go all out and by removing him from the team

Rockets really need a PG, tbh..

Watching Beverely in a starting unit is painful..he would be a really good backup PG, but shouldn't be starting for a team with aspirations to contend..

This x infinity. And he is due an extension. I'd look to trade him

Not sure where that came from. Bev doesn't have the ability to run an offense nor get into the paint. His 3 point shooting has fallen off, and he gets lit up by opposing PGs. He is better suited as an energy guy off the bench.

And he can't make entry passes to the post, nor does he have good court awareness or vision.

I was watching the Bulls-Rox game the other night and Patrick "The African" Beverly is a motherfucking hack. Dude had quite a few plays that were borderline dirty against D-Rose. Beverly is a POS.

That's all he is good for, playing rough. Motiejunas is progressing yet they don't feed him the ball enough.

I don't know much about D-Mo but he seems like a pretty solid, fundamentally sound big man. I saw him make numerous good plays against the Bulls the other night. But now Josh "I love to shoot 21 Foot Bricks" Smith is gunna eat into his minutes.

Agreed on Bev too. He runs around like a headless chicken tbh. His hustle is awesome, but he should be coming off the bench.

If "The African" got benched who would start at the Point for you guys? That kid Isaiah Canaan? Jet Terry? Someone else? I'm not all that familiar with the Rox tbh.

Canaan would start, which I think he would be a better fit. While Beverley was out a few weeks, Canaan played really well, now he's not even getting playing time due to McHale's dumb rotations.

For him it is. And over a whole season, that would put him third in the league: http://espn.go.com/nba/statistics/player/_/stat/field-goals/sort/scoringEfficiency

You're probably reading it the other way around (10 points on 16 shots) which is what he does on most nights.

LOL when the Rox get in a bidding war with Mavs over Rondo this off-season ...because Dwight is his "friend too" ...

Funny thing is Dwight and Parsons are close so maybe the Rox dont care. Rox should invest in a PG with the Pelicans pick. Problem is Harden ponds the ball a lot so you need a open shooter PG type ...

He isn't that way when Canaan is on the floor. They desperately need a PG who can create and get to the basket, because when Harden has to do it 40 minutes a game, it doesn't work well. A guy who can get Motiejunas or Dwight the ball when they have their guys beat, a lot of the time Beverley doesn't see it.
