Will it break? 18 more losses and the streak is done.

50+ wins is still very doable. Spurs just need to put a steak in the ground.

If we don't get 50 wins we won't make the playoffs

53-29 will be the Spurs' regular season record this season. Book it. First round exit.

I say yes, it will end we are almost in the middle of the season and most players dont even care.

So the Spurs are going to play well enough to win 53 games, but flame out in the first round? Probably against the 3 or 4seed judging by that win total. Solid logic.

Dallas got the 8th seed last year with 49 wins and there's more parity this year, so I imagine a similar number will be the win total needed this year to make the playoffs. The Spurs are on a pace right now to go 48-34, and that's with injuries galore... If only Kawhi gets healthy and plays the post All-Star part of the season, I think that would guarantee 50 wins. Chances are good that no Spurs will be in the All-Star activities, which is actually a good thing. It'll give the entire team a chance to rest.

Spurs have played like garbage and have gone 21-15. They only have to "pull it together" and go 29-17 through their remaining games to hit 50.

Yeah, I think they'll do that.

We're going to be a 7 seed if we're lucky. The West is stacked and there are too many teams ahead of us. Barring a slew of injuries to other WC contenders, we're a 7 or 8 seed. Warriors are winning 65+ games.

Voted NO.

But I still think they'll be borderline at 50-51 wins.

Spurs fans quote it because it's something their team has actually repeated at.

That streak is one of the most incredible team streaks in professional sports history. Especially in modern days sports. It points to a level of success, professionalism, stability, and commitment you don't see in this day and age. Going to the playoffs year in and year out, winning 50 games a season, winning 5 rings. You see players taking less money. Management shunning knee jerk reactions. Pop having a plan and sticking to it. A lot goes in to sustained success. A lot of teams envy the Spurs success across all sports. But keep up the tough guy I'm not impressed act. Go start another Manu vs Tony thread.

Last chance to repeat in the Duncan era. The team knows this and they'll get it done. The steaks have never been higher.

They just need to cut down on the stupid misteaks, and they'll be fine.

^ this, tbh

So, the folks that say the Spurs never repeated need to STFU...we've been repeating for 17 years! Always winning 50 games (1999 prorates to 60 or 61 wins) and always making the playoffs. Name another team that has done that since the end of the Jordan era.

If Championship #5 was the last of the Duncan era, then at least we went out in style, getting revenge on Miami with the greatest Finals beatdown in NBA history. But, I think we still have a good chance once Kawhi gets healthy.

GO SPURS GO!!!!!

If the Spurs were like the Malone/Stockton Jazz or the Nash/Stoudemire Suns-- always good, but never able to win a title-- it would be a less meaningful stat. But they've won 5 championships and never even had an off year or rebuilding year. The 2000s have produced a lot of good teams, but none have had the sustained success of the Spurs... The Lakers, Celtics, and Heat have at various times been great, but have also had years where they were non-factors in the league. I'd say the streak is meaningful for people who look at the big picture and find it more compelling than arbitrary, random stats.

The question asks will it come to an end. Of course it will. Maybe not this year, but it will come to an end.
