Fox TV Group chairman Gary Newman announced today at the channel’s TCA presentation that they’re in talks to revive Chris Carter’s classic TV series, “The X-Files.” Newman added that they would like to bring back David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, but that’s not confirmed. No further details were given about the discussions.

I forgot how X-Files ended, did they stop those green-bleeding hybrids? or were we all about to become alien hosts?

Doubt the sexy Gillian wants back in. She's leading in The Fall and a regular in Hannibal. Ol' girl is doing great for herself.

I would love that so much, but there is no way they are going to get both Gillian and David back. I feel like David might be up for it, but not Gillian.

What made that show work was really their on-air chemistry. Once they broke up for a while, the show was just never the same.

I remember being a child and being scared to death of the intro of The X-Files (lol). Now that I'm older I watch this show every chance I get. I'm currently up to the 2nd season. I absolutely love this show because every episode something extremely crazy happens. There are so many twists and turns and there's always something that'll make you go :wow My only critique of this show is that there have been numerous times where Mulder and Scully could and probably should have been murdered. Their luck seems to be endless. However, I do understand that you can make the same critique for a number of TV Shows. Great show.

Yeah I agree on Mulder and Scully dodging a bullet everytime

WTF :lol

Maybe karma or destiny were a theme in that show

I don't think a remake would do well. They would be better off with a similar show not pretending to be attached. The first was such a success in my view, that everyone would be disappointed no matter how good it was.

Now maybe a TV series based off the miniseries Taken.

One of my favorite shows back in the day; I'm sure they'll manage to ruin it.

didn't Fox already try that? they had some paranormal show recently with marginal success I can't remember the name

Yeah...I agree. Paranormal shows are beating the genre to death. X-Files was fresh when it came out and ran it's course. One of the best shows ever IMO. But doesn't need to get redone. Other than sticking the X-Files name on it, I don't know what would make it different than anything else they've done lately.

I think the show Vander is thinking about was...Fringe. I tried a couple of those but lost interest.

Also that Night Stalker reboot. I remember watching the original Night Stalker reruns with my parents when I was little and loved that show. Kind of an X-Files precursor.
The remake sucked though.

Thse X-files clones arent even close to X-files tbh

X-Files had perfect casting and characters (you gotta love Cigarette man and Lone Rangers), great writing, the atmosphere was awesome, there was no shitty cliffhanger, and the music was perfect for the tone of the series (Mark Snow, one of the best in the business)
