Admittedly I haven't watched many regular season games this year.. Seems like a drag since we won last year.

last year Crawford reeked out a close victory over Gibson and Manu posting pretty inefficient stats, but I noticed he's played subpar this year.

I know Isaiah Thomas is playing well this season, but is there anyone else of note? Can Manu sneak in there if the Spurs finish the year strong? I feel Manu would get the vote if they decided to pick someone from the Spurs.

I hope not, 6th man award is a curse tbh...

Nobody in the last 18 years that had won the 6th man award won the championship in the same season

I don't see why not. He probably is the best player that doesn't start....

Let Crawford have it (as always) tbh

Isiah Thomas or Marrese Speights would get ahead of Manu eventually. Voters tend to choose players on the basis of the minutes they played.

If there was an award for the all time best 6th man ever, they should just hand it out to Manu and close shop.

If I was going by WS.. I would go by WS/48 and make a minutes cutoff (>500 minutes played, for e.g.)

The ranking then goes thus: http://bkref.com/tiny/pBlNp

Most career WS for any player who started less that 50% (eyeballing out old guys before the tracking of GS)

113.0 Kevin McHale (41% GS)
109.5 Detlef Schrempf (46% GS)
96.0 Manu Ginobili (42% GS) [surprised about so many GS)
78.5 Dan Majerle (48%)
72.2 Ricky Pierce (28%)
71.5 Danny Ainge (49%)
70.5 Brent Barry (49%)
69.5 Jerome Kersey (49.5%)
66.3 Robert Horry (42%)
65.6 Eddie Johnson (40%)

So by diminishing GS%, currently I might rate these two players as best career 6th man, before going back to Schremf and Ginobili.

Kevin McHale (best WS, and lower GS% than Ginobili)
Ricky Pierce (lowest GS% of top 10)

However, if Ginobili plays 15 more games without starting, then Ginobili's GS% will be lower than McHale's.
OTOH, Ginobili would need to play 426 games without starting to have a lower GS% than Pierce.

I prefer WS because it mutliplies PT.

That said your list gives us:
Brandan Wright
Marreese Speights
Rudy Gobert
Nikola Mirotic
Aron Baynes
Louis Williams
Isaiah Thomas
Patrick Patterson
Bismack Biyombo
James Johnson
Cory Jospeh

35th Manu Ginobili

Maybe one day they'll even name the award with his name :D

6th man award is the scoring title for guys that come off the bench. Whoever scores the most gets the nod no matter what.
