Love him or hate him, he's a top 10 player of all-time, and the league will be much less interesting when he's gone, tbh..

Even this season, where he's having one of the worst individual seasons in the history of the NBA, everybody is still tuning in to watch him and discussing him..he's a snitching coon, but the league will miss him:toast

Kobe's a fringe top-15 player at best, certainly. I'm not sure a cogent argument could be made to place him much higher than that, though.

I'm a known Kobe fan. I don't rank him in the top 10 all time.

No specific order:

MJ
Duncan
Lebron
Magic
Kareem
Shaq
Hakeem
Wilt
Bird

You can maybe argue him over Bird, but I have him probably in the 9-13 range.

You can't have Bird in your Top 10 and leave Kobe out IMO. You can't just overlook Bryant's longevity and he's a 2 way player unlike Bird. There hasn't been any player in his era like Kobe. He filled in the role of a 1s/t2nd role offensive option, facilitator, defensive wingman and closer in the biggest stage.

MJ
Magic
Larry
Shaq
Duncan
Hakeem
Kobe
Wilt
Russell

Yes, it's not his fault he had to play against a bunch of short, unathletic white dudes. He dominated his era like Kobe couldn't do with his. Russell was ahead of his time and for that he deserves to be mentioned among the all-time greats.

No I don't have Russell in the top 10 either.

Jordan
Magic
Kareem
Wilt
Bird
Hakeem
Shaq
Duncan
LeBron
Moses

People often seem to forget about Moses Malone. Three time league MVP, Finals MVP, and in that championship run, he had the MVP double, League MVP and Finals MVP in the same season, while doing it in the golden era of the (Lakers/Celtics) NBA 80s, sweeping the defending championship Lakers in the Finals, and outplaying Kareem. Many often leave him out. Moses belongs in the top 10.

That's 10 players. Kobe is in the next tier of players including guys like Russell and Oscar. He's right on the cusp of top 10, but I don't have him in my top 10.

Wut? Could've sworn you have him in your Top 10 before...

Pretty sure I've maintained for a long time that he isn't in my top 10 all time. Though I have often argued he's right on the border of it.

I will start posting about Lebron.

Or maybe how elite teams like OKC are great at running a motion based offense.

Edit: any advanced stats to support putting him in the top ten? Using advanced stats, russell definitely ranks higher than kobe, and kobe would have a hard time cracking top 20.

Kobe a two way player? You went in a coma the last decade?

Putting Lebron on the top 10 was like putting Kobe in the top 10 after the first 3 titles, given his age etc. Time will tell if there's room for him. How is Hakeem ahead of Kobe, or Bird, or Magic?

Pretty sure Kobe didn't have 4 MVPs and 2FMVPs by the time he got to the 2 rings.

So by your logic if Kobe left in 2010 he'd be a lock.....regardless, the more spur fan disparages Kobe and states how shitty he is or how he doesn't add up etc, more or less looks worse for TD and the spurs. You can't prop up TD and relegate Kobe, it doesn't work that way.

If I had to draft an all time dream team or a couple of dream teams, I wouldn't take Kobe in the top ten. He was a great individual talent but was/is too divisive. i'd take a prime Walt Frazier over Kobe on a talented team-- he'd give me better defense, a higher FG%, and more steals, rebounds, and assists.

I mean, how can a guy that was picked 13th and rode the bench his first two years be top-10? Is there any precedent for that?

I think history will remember Kobe more than Hakeem tbh.

Top 10 in the order.

1. Jordan
2. Magic
3. Kareem
4. Duncan
5. Wilt
6. Bird
7. LeBron
8. Shaq
9. Kobe
10. Moses

Tim surpassed a few players in the past three years. Kobe belongs in the top 10 but his legacy destroying tour is not helping his cause.

Players better than kobe, in no particular order

Jordan
Kareem
Magic
Bird
Hakeem
Duncan
Shaq
Moses
Lebron
Oscar
Wilt
Russell

Then there's
Dr J
Logo
Baylor

Even if you ignored the old timers (the historical significance of the game) and evaluate only players since 1975, kobe would have a tough time cracking the top 10.

Except Kobe rode Shaq to his first 3 titles and Lebron was the alpha in his 5 finals appearances. He's won 2 Finals MVPs and 4 league MVP awards. If you're going to put Kobe above him because Kobe has more rings, then you should put Pippen ahead of Bird.

Ask yourself this question: If Allen Iverson was gifted Kobe's situation (13th pick, rookie and soph campaigns riding the bench, 2nd fiddle to Shaq for 3 chips), would he have also won with Pau steering the ship?

My answer: yes.

Kobe == Lucky Allen Iverson
