Stephen Espinoza, the head of Showtime Sports, strongly informed BoxingScene.com that Top Rank's CEO, Bob Arum, has "misrepresented" the current status of the ongoing negotiations to make a mega-fight pay-per-view between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao. The target date, at the moment, is May 2nd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
After reading some of the recently published stories on BoxingScene, Espinoza wanted to 'set the record' straight regarding some of the statements that were made by Arum, who promotes Pacquiao. Showtime has an exclusive multi-fight agreement with Mayweather.
In an earlier article, Arum claimed that everyone involved (HBO, Showtime, CBS, Al Haymon, Pacquiao, Top Rank) are on board with the deal - and that Mayweather himself is the only person holding up the fight from being a finalized item.
"This is something that is totally strange. There is one guy to blame. And that's Floyd Mayweather. Everybody involved wants this fight, just like the fans. We've signed off on every point. We've agreed to everything. But push comes to shove, there's one guy to blame," Arum told The Denver Post.
Espinoza denies that a deal was reached between Showtime, CBS, HBO and Haymon. He also denied the existence of any contract that Mayweather has allegedly refused to sign. He does confirm that all parties are still working hard to hammer out an agreement.
"Floyd isn't holding anything up. Nobody is waiting on Floyd for anything. Arum isn't being truthful and he knows it. There is no contract that is awaiting Floyd's signature and Bob Arum knows that too. Floyd has been absolutely clear with us throughout this process - he wants to fight Manny Pacquiao. He has repeatedly told [CBS CEO] Leslie Moonves, Al Haymon and me - that he wants us to make the fight and that's what we've been working for, for weeks," Espinoza explained to BoxingScene.com.
"We've made good progress but there are still open issues that need to be resolved. There is no agreement or closed deal or contracts. Neither CBS or Showtime or Al Haymon or HBO for that matter have agreed on the deal terms. We are still trying to resolve the issues. That's what's taking time....not any delay or impediment by Floyd. No one is waiting on Floyd for anything. For Arum to say otherwise is an outright misrepresentation."
"It makes you wonder. When you hear these types of misrepresentations....someone who wants to make a deal doesn't go out and publicly misrepresent the status of the negotiations. Maybe Floyd and [Alex] Ariza are right - maybe Bob Arum is going to be the reason this fight doesn't happen. If he continues to misrepresent and mischaracterize the status of the negotiations, he may end up killing the deal."

Rightfully so. He is a great tactical fighter and great on D and is effective with his jabs but his fights are a flat out snooze fest most of the time. He hardly ever knocks anyone out or just throws a flurry of punches, it's jab jab and then defense defense. I just can't get into his fights much at all. I doubt he loses in the future either, that next fight he will win again and it will go 12 round to a decision.

I'll say this about him, as a huge boxing fan, I hands down think he's the greatest defensive fighter of all time surpassing even Ali. I also think he has an incredible chin. I realized that back in the day when I watched him fight my main man Demarcus Chop Chop Corley and he hit him with a thunderous punch that shook the audience but Mayweather held on and outclassed him the remainder of the fight.

The downfall of May was once he took the torch from Oscar, he decided he had nothing to prove anymore and has been cherry picking ever since. He would have had his ass handed to him if he had fought Paul Williams, a tall, lanky, sharp nigga who was built for little niggas like Floyd who like to run. He would have been fucked up in 2009 had he fought that version of Pacman. Floyd has put himself in a very dangerous position, its a matter of time before someone wins and then all the LULZ OVERRATED FAGGOT will be the defining mark of his career and rightfully so.

An offer to Floyd Mayweather Jr. to fight Manny Pacquiao in Abu Dhabi this spring for a record-setting purse of $120 million is off the table.
M. Akbar Muhammad, a long-time boxing executive (who previously worked with Don King), said he put Mr. Mayweather on notice approximately one week ago that the offer, made late November by an investment group out of Abu Dhabi, would be rescinded the first week of January.
“We want to deal with serious individuals, individuals who have the ability make a decision,” said Muhammad. “Regretfully, that is not the case with Mr. Mayweather.
“The Abu Dhabi group is serious, and I will not allow them to dangle an inordinate amount of time,” said Muhammad. “Now that time has come and the offer is gone.”
Muhammad said he has two take aways from this offer process.
“One, if Mr. Mayweather wishes to pass on, in essence, $120 million net dollars and, instead, fight for hot dog money, all I can say is that ‘The Money Team’ might consider rethinking its nickname,” said Muhammad.
“Two, the very best of all time are just that because they overcame adversity; they met and beat their nemeses,” said Muhammad. “That’s (Muhammad) Ali meeting and beating (Joe) Frazier; that’s (Ray) Leonard meeting and beating (Thomas) Hearns.
“To rise to the challenge, first, you must accept the challenge, and that means fighting the very best you can when the opportunity arises,” said Muhammad.
“Unfortunately, it appears someone on ‘The Money Team’ has no regard nor respect for the tradition and history of boxing nor, even more unfortunately, the wishes and desires of the fans of our sport,” said Muhammad.
“That aside, we’re moving forward with absolutely no hesitation, no reservations and no Mayweather,” said Muhammad. “A world championship card, concerts and tributes will take place in Abu Dhabi during the spring of 2015, and in keeping with the vision and determination of our investment group, it will be a boxing spectacle unrivaled in the history of the sport.
“The boxers and artists who participate in this unprecedented event will be recognized and rewarded for their foresight in working with the newest powerhouse in boxing,” said Muhammad.
Muhammad, president and chief operating officer of Akbar Productions, LLC of New Jersey, has extensive experience in all phases of boxing. He has managed five professional world champions; guided two Olympic gold medalists; and produced world championship, internationally televised boxing cards.

Pacroid vs Dumbweather has always been about the publicity and money. Now that they both have the right amount of publicity and money they want/deserve, they should get on with this fight and kill each other in the ring.

arum at home mad as hell right now.
By Jaime Ortega: Floyd Mayweather Jr said on Super Star News TV, “If I am going to work for free I might not give you one hundred percent, but if I get paid, and I get hundreds of millions of dollars I am going master my craft.”
Then the radio host referring to the Pacquiao fight asked, “speaking about the complicated deal, it looks like is going to take week or months to make considering its the fight the world wants to see. Is it going to be a 300 million deal?” Floyd answers, “Once again we have to look at his pay-per-view numbers, his last fight verily sold 300.000 homes, so it has to make sense,” adding,“ he got knocked out not long ago, and Floyd Mayweather is still winning.”
After listening to Floyd mentioning pay-per-view numbers as a reasonable justification to avoid the fight with 2nd biggest pay-per-view star Manny Pacquiao, it makes me utterly disappointed.
The radio hosts rebuttal to Floyd’s answer should had been ‘has Marcos Maidana, or any other fighter that Floyd fought in the past had bigger PPV numbers than Manny Pacquiao? The answer simply put is absolutely no. Other than Floyd, no fighter as of today has close the PPV numbers Pacquiao has shown.
Its seems that if PPV’s are the main concern why Floyd wont step in the ring with Pacquiao, then Floyd must consider his international status. Floyd has a an international fan base and Showtime has other deals with other networks worldwide. So what about worldwide? Does Floyd match up with Pacquiao in terms of popularity and fame?
The interesting part about his latest excuse, is that yes, Pacquiao has less PPV numbers in the U.S compared to Floyd, but worldwide the Pilipino is another monster. Pacquiao is not only a bigger icon than Floyd worldwide, but people watch his fights whenever HBO tunes in. In China alone over 48 million people tuned to see Algeri versus Pacquiao. Arum callec it great success. Has Floyd ever reached 48 million views yet?
In most western European countries like UK, Spain, France, Germany{..} Manny Pacquiao over time has become more popular than Mayweather because of his progression as a fighter, and people know him and like to watch his fights for he brings excitement to boxing. In Mexico alone, Pacquiao is regarded higher than Floyd by many boxing analyst. I am not including the Philippines, and other Asian countries that also admire Pacquiao. Pacquiao’s international reputation as a political representative for the Philippines has help contribute to strengthen his popularity globally.
So yes, in the US Mayweather is the king of PPV numbers, but worldwide Pacquiao is indisputably the most popular boxer. So in the end, if TMT is serious about the PPV numbers and there is no fight, its nothing but an excuse for Floyd to not fight Pacquiao.
But lets consider all the previous excuses Floyd selected over the years. Something never before seen in boxing.
1. Manny Pacquiao alleged used of Performance Enhancement Drugs. This ended up in a lawsuit. His sparring partners, many of them that also train in Mayweather’s boxing club have said in multiple occasions that Pacquiao is naturally gifted, including Shawn Porter. He can’t possibly take PED’s every time he spars, the man would have a heart attack.
2. Bob Arum. Promoter issues? Well Arum helped with Joe Frazier versus Ali, Marvin Hagler versus Roberto Duran, Hagler versus Thomas Hearns, Sugar Ray Leonard versus Thomas Hearns, George Foreman versus Evander Holyfield, Mike Tyson versus Lennox Lewis, Oscar De La Hoya versus Floyd Mayweather, Erik Morales versus Manny Pacquiao and many other great fights. The question is what fight has Floyd given his fans that rivals any of Arums past super-fights? That’s where I have an issue with Floyds credibility. Arum has proven to deliver super fights, Floyd has not.
3. Pacquiao got knocked out by Juan Manuel Marquez. Going by the same logic, Floyd would have never taken on Ali after losing to Joe Frazier, or Willie Pep after losing to Tommy Collins, or Sugar Ray Robinson after losing to Jake La Motta!
Floyd proposes that he would have never taken on any of the legends because they, alike Manny, also lost and a lot more than Pacquiao. Do you imagine how the state of boxing would of developed according to Floyd’s agenda? No thank you.
4. PPV numbers. Diego Corrales, Marcos Maidana, Robert Guerrero, Miguel Cotto, Carlos Baldomir, Emanuel Augustus{…} Have they ever nearly had the PPV numbers Pacquiao has shown nationally or internationally? Not even close.
5. Day of the fight. Floyd wanted 5 de Mayo, and even though it was hard for Arum to concede to his request, Arum gave 5 de Mayo to fight against Pacquiao because Oscar De La Hoya wanted to prove a valid point. The point is that Floyd wont fight Pacquiao even if he is given the date he demanded. That ended that excuse.
6. Not enough money. But Floyd calls himself Mr. Money man! Fighting Pacquiao, would give May weather a guaranteed one hundred twenty million $USD even if he lost the fight. Undoubtedly the biggest fight in boxing history. UAE team from Abu Dhabi already pulled out from making a deal, in their view, “Floyd is not serious with fighting Pacquiao.” Also star rapper and boxing promoter 50 Cent, had to pull out from a hundred million dollar Pacquiao deal blaming it on Floyd. Money is not the issue here.
Finally, as I written before Floyd ducked Paul Williams, Erik Morales, Sergio Martinez, Antonio Barrera, Winky Wright and Manny Pacquiao. The excuses plus the ducking have gone too far to be permissive by boxing loyalist.
We expect Floyd to sign the contract soon because the whole world has grown sick and tired of waiting on him to pay with gratitude the millions of dollars fans have invested on PPV buys making him the rich man he is today. Time to pay back the fans, ‘if’ he cares about them or his legacy.

I am not talking about them not liking each other. Arum loves money more than he hates PBF. My point is that all of this is about money. The TV deals and % of PPV and gate. Arum does not give a shit if Manny is disrespected by the TMT offer for the split ...he cares that HIS cut will be less. floyd is afighting to keep the lion's share. Its all about money. And yes they make a bunch either way but the one thing PBF and Arum have in common is greed. Pretty sure Pac is too but since he doesnt discuss it much so I will give him a pass.
