I wasn't in favor of him playing for the all-star game, but congratulations!

Amazing for his age that he still gets recognized as an all-star while other players of his generation like Kobe (lol fan votes)/KG are irrelevant.

He deserves it for his whole career but not for this season. Cousins really should've gotten the spot, but him being a coach killer and a whiny little (big) shit certainly doesn't endear him to any coaches.

Still cool to see Timmy get it - 15 time all star sounds so much more impressive than 14.

Good luck to Kawhi next season making the All Star team over Cousins. (Who the people are irate for because he got snubbed 2 seasons in a row.)

The issue isn't Tim making it. His raw numbers (especially for his age) are very good and his team is actually winning despite having massive injuries to key players. Boogie has great numbers and is equally as deserving, but people value impact/winning so Tim gets the nod.

It's not the coaches selections (mostly) that cause the "snub" it's the fan voting. Dame should have been there over CP3 and/or Durant. If it's just this years play, no way CP3/Durant have a case over Lillard.

Unfortunately, there's far too many idiots with an antiquated mindset, who still think this should be solely about raw numbers, as if they're not circumstantial and dependent on a myriad of factors, from minutes to teammates to system to individual priorities. It's beginning to change, as evidenced by the Korver and to a lesser extent, Green hype, but that line of thinking is still prevalent, so inevitably they'll be backlash.

A lot of people also think this should only be about this season, but it's never worked that way. The previous season has always factored in, as has reputation, stature in the game and team record and though the Spurs record isn't what everyone is accustomed to, let's face it, if they were even reasonably healthy, they're probably in 2nd or 3rd right now.

CP3 and Durant were both chosen by the coaches. The only player that the fans got wrong was Kobe, and he'll be replaced by one of the snubbed players.

If Lillard was in for Kobe and Boogie in for Durant, then everything would be pretty much exactly how it should be. You could argue someone like Conley over CP3 as well, but Clips do have a good record in the West.

DPG21920
01-29-2015, 07:48 PM
I'm talking in general. CP3 probably deserves to be there, just not over Lillard. But Lillard should be in over Kobe. Boogie should be in over Durant, but their record is even worse than OKC's and Durant is Durant.

I get Cousin's beef. He is a hell of a player. But the real beef should be with KD. He has missed more games than He has played. Whatever. Truth be told it's just the ASG. It's not All NBA. That's what matters.

Only two players this season with 14pts, 10 rbds, 3 assts.

But Duncan is shoulder above that trash-talker. Being the reigning champ & better conference record (Spurs #6 /Kings #12), are just 2 of the reasons..

Anyone else think Timmy has a great shot at All-NBA too? Obviously first team front court will be Lebron, Durant and Davis but after that he's as deserving as anyone. His main competition is the Gasols, Griffin, Aldridge, Cousins, Horford/Millsap and Cousins.

Most of the forwards who made an All-NBA team last year won't get it again, George, Noah, Howard, Love and Jefferson are almost certain to not be in it this year.

He scored 38 pts (reminding everyone he deserves a spot in the ASG :D )., but overshadowed by Irving's 55-pt game.

I think he's got a good shot (and at the All-Defensive team too). Biggest obstacle, I feel, will be that Pop will lower his minutes in the second half of the season and those numbers will drop. And, while I want Timmy to make the teams, can't say that I'd blame Pop. He needs to let Duncan recover for the playoffs.

Duncan has been by far the best Spur this year, tbh..he carried the team(along with Manu and Green) through what was statistically the toughest schedule in NBA history IIRC(December)..since when does the best player on the 6th seed in the West not make the All-Star game? The outrage is puzzling, tbh..

Pussy Cousins is becoming really overrated, but he did deserve it, although clearly not at Duncan's expense..Dominos making the team is a much worse selection, as he has missed a bunch of games, and now you have a 10th seeded team having 2 All-Stars:lol..

It's funny seeing the reaction from vanilla NBA fans and media, though..why do they care so much about a glorified scrimmage? I'm never going to understand the obsession with regular season accolades and performances:lol..

Kevin Love had even more amazing stat than DMC. I'm not suggesting DMC is the same type of player as Love. However, if you look at what Love does for a competitor this season and what he did for a perennial lottery team, the stats while playing for a lottery team does not mean that much. This does not even take defense, leadership and winning pedigree into account.

Yea I agree.

I think Timmy's 5th title and the Spurs being competitive in Timmy's late career win him the race against Kobe who was injured for significant amount of time in his late career and the Lakers being lottery bound.

But nonetheless, there will always be a lot of arguments for Kobe. lol I think the NBA can do a experiment: Put kobe's name in the all stars ballot even after he had retired. He would still be a starter.

Surprised Timmy made it. Good year, not great.

Durant and Westbrook prob should have not made it because of injuries and team play.

Lillard should take KD's place tbh.

But its okay. Lillard probably will be selected by Silver to replace Kobe

Mixed emotions, I want TD to get the invite because when it is all said and done in the history books they look at All Star invites, but I would love it if he backed out, you still get the title of All Star this year but a mysterious injury forces him out of the game. That way TD gets the well deserved historical nod, Dame and Boogie make the team, and the Spurs can rest for the week.

After the 2011 Memphis series, you would have been laughed at for saying that Duncan would even be playing in 2015.

Well deserved for sure. Although Cousins getting the nod over Duncan would have been okay as well, I guess. Maybe Durant should have been left off this time because of the significant time he missed so far this season. Anyway, I like that they actually have three Hawks players in the ASG. Still won't be watching any of it probably.

Disagree. If you are an all star your team shouldn't be headed for the lottery.

Hope Duncan rests. Gives Lillard a run.

He gets some needed rest, and we get a heap of extra fans in the finals wanting to see Timmy win another ring :)

I'm not sure why everyone thinks Tim would rather "rest" then play in what's likely his last All-Star game. He has said multiple times that he's cherishing every basketball experience because he knows they're almost gone, and this will be no different.

Also, he's going to play like 8 minutes, show up at some events... it's not like its a "taxing" schedule. He can rest plenty. And he IS a student of the game. He gets what these records mean, and in his own words, is very honored with every historical achievement he gets.

It's been mentioned elsewhere, but Tim's first AS game was also in Madison Square Garden. The box score from that game:

Duncan GO! He almost won ASG MvP in 2005. Only the West lost to the East.
This time making an appearance is fine w/ me.

Lillard snubs ASG Skills Challenge..will not defend his crown after All-star reserve snub.

CP3 might win this time after 4 (4-0) tries :lmao

Most people here act as if there was no difference between an All-Star selection and the All-Star Game in itself.
The first one means quite a lot whereas the second one has become a huge joke for mainstream teenagers

It's a fan-voted game where a scrub averaging 13 ppg(2014 Kobe) can be awarded a spot. All-star selections SHOULD be treated like a joke. Unfortunately, the media uses the number of all-star selections quite often when describing players. That's why there's such a vested interest in seeing your favorite player make it. Personally, I think they're meaningless.

Out of the fan votes, how many completely ridiculous AS selections can you recall? Maybe 10 maximum? So no, a few undeserved AS Selections from injured/underperforming superstars (Yao Ming, Iverson, Bryant) does not make it meaningless or irrelevant.
