It's been a rough season so far...injuries...schedule..chemistry etc..
But it's all about defending a title. It's why it's hard to do and not many teams can do it..last year was easy. Spurs had a bad taste in their mouth all year. They went through the motions at times but only for smaller stretches.. We've had some bad luck this year and we can come up with excuses all day. But bottom line is that when teams play the Spurs they give their best shot.
Other then Rockets and Thunder we have owned every team either in regular season or post season. If you've played sports and competed against a champion you automatically raise your play. This team will rise to the occasion when it needs to..despite the struggles they're not in bad shape. That plays a factor when it comes to giving it your all every night..
Nobody wants to face us in the first round. Period.

We got our ass whooped by the measuring stick yesterday that is for certain. I agree on name alone nobody wants to face SA in round one, that is a huge scare and they can upset you.

I am not getting into the fact if they scared them or not, they came into SA and beat them badly so it shows you where this team is at. They are wildly inconsistent this year and when you think they are getting it going against some bad teams they get whipped when they play a good team (OKC Christmas at home without Durant, Bulls and now this). I want to see them string some good games together against decent to good teams before I say they are ready or turning a corner. Right now it's very depressing watching the Spurs, even against Charlotte they looked horrible in the third and gave up a big lead.

I just won't believe that this team is going to get punked in the playoffs defending their title and it being the last run...health is the only thing they're truly concerned about..and you can blame that for being the reason we are where we are in the standings..

Here's the thing dude, it's not gonna be enough to just win. The people in front of us gotta lose too. We're making it tougher on ourselves every night we have a chance to move up the standings a little and come out looking like we're just gonna sleepwalk our way back to the finals. Teams are gonna keep stepping up to the champs and we're not in a position right now to get cocky and lazy. Losing to the clippers is one thing - but like that? Absolutely inexcusable

The only things that matters is health, Tony's in particular and Timmy's if we keep using him too much...
The seeding doesn't matter, as long as our is better than OKC's, the only team that scares me on their own floor (refs).
As I agreed in another thread (with Lefty), this loss could be the best thing that happened until now, it was so embarrassing that it could wake them up and Pop has now all the material he needs.

The measuring stick has shown were coming up short but if you measure from the asshole of last year we look pretty good.

The same fucks thinking we are in deep shit are the same ones jumping cliff last year when we couldn't beat a playoff team in the regular season..ITS THE REGULAR SEASON!!! As Spurs fans we should know by now it doesn't matter how you start it's how you finish..
Thinks change in the postseason..ask the Suns. It's a different animal. Experience. Passion. Heart. It's all the Spurs have and will show when the season is on the line..GAME 7 against the Mavs is all you gotta look at

I saw on open court today Isaiah Thomas talk about how you can't match the effort of teams coming after the champs for 82 games. So add that to the injuries and it kinda makes sense. Let's see what we look like after the rodeo.

Spurs were the #1 seed most of last year and started out hot. This year is nothing like last year so far, they are the #7 seed and got killed at home last night by the Clippers. Regular season or not their seeding needs to improve and that is just a fact. Game 7 against the Mavs was a work of art I agree, they were on fire the rest of the playoffs after that game. Things don't just automatically turn on in the post season though, the Spurs will have to play alot better towards the playoffs and start clicking if they want a chance to repeat. Will the Spurs have it this year? Time will tell but they will need health.

Agreed.

Yeah but when you have that bad taste in your mouth you cannot wait to get back to playing again....Things don't automatically turn on. The Mavs series speaks for itself...but when their backs are against the wall this team always pulls through or fights their ass off..

That doesn't mean a title or a run this year though, history does not repeat itself over and over and last year they had a hunger I don't see this year honestly nor do I see the chemistry they had last year. I know they had injuries along the way and that hurt but as of right now they just don't look like the same team they were last year. The Patriots and Seahawks looked lost early on as well this year and people counted the out etc. so I will reserve judgement there and wonder if they can do the same and go on a similar tear? The Spurs had better turn it around soon though, no playoff switch is just going to work as a late seed.

Pop's quote on FOX sports headline from the game was "They played harder than we did". It seems to be the common type of quote this year after a big loss. "It was embarrassing", "they played harder", "we looked lazy". Someone has to light fire under their asses or just start making plans/changes for next year.
