Al Jazeera is often derided by idiots who like staying in their information bubble. I am sure there are a few who will dismiss anything put out by AJ, and they can stop reading at this point.

For those of you who aren't idiots, and like reading and deciding for themselves what to think, AJ is an interesting source. Yes, some of it is anti-american, since AJ goes out of its way to hire people of all sorts of viewpoints.

Personally I have found the reporting uneven, and bit unpolished. Some of it, is downright awesome, and some of it sucks ass. I have seen more in the first category.

I have seen some very in-depth thoughful analysis and work. The editors at AJ seem to allow their reporters to really dig, in the way that only deep pockets that don't have to worry much about how to make money off of crap can. I would put AJ's journalists, as a whole, against just about any news channel's at this point, for that reason.

Here is the most recent bit that makes me opine on them:
http://america.aljazeera.com/articles/2015/2/2/netanyahu-visit-concerns-american-generals.html

And here is a website that is very, very good, mentioned in the article:
http://warontherocks.com/

Even if you think AJ is shitty, if you have an interest in US military affairs this website seems to be a gold-mine.

Just a thought from the aether.

Too many people dismiss them because they come from the ME.

Dems are supposed to boycott Bibi's speech to Congress.

Al Jazeera went into my daily rotation a few years ago. I at first had concerns about the arab monarchy but the executives overseas do not interfere with the production from what I have been told. The level of professionalism in their journals is impressive. Their articles are straight forward, almost exclusively factual, and thorough.

ALL news sources have there biases, you need to understand where they are with that particular news story. It changes depending on local politics too. AJ is obviously going to be pro-Arab - that is their market and they will look to be popular there. BBC will be pro-british, which is currently more pro-Arab than Israeli, but they aim for balance. France24/Le Mond is, well they're French so they like being staunchly different and swing about a bit but are more pro-arab and anti british/american depending on what day it is. Current politics in France are shifting due to their own troubles. American news you all know about: Fox is dribble, the rest I don't give much time to.

All the Al Jazeera America stuff I have seen is pretty good. It's the only national news channel available anywhere on my cable phone app so I've used it a few times.

I go for The O'Reilly Factor for information. Fair and Balanced.

It was a bit of a joke. But not too much. I love The O'Reilly Factor actually. I often don't agree with him, but he argues his point very well.

The BBC is horrendously pro-establishment and often referred to as the CBC (Conservative Broadcasting Corporation).

Uhhh, ok.

Hmmm. Point taken. Yet another impulsive diatribe that should have been backspaced over.

Fixed, and thanks.

war on the rocks was the real gem for me. For anyone interested in what the US military is thinking, it seemed to be it. Haven't had a chance to read up, but definitely bookmarked it in my "really good" folder.
