Barea knows exactly how to run this team. And part of his success is being a 3 point threat. Similar to Nash IMO.

Without a doubt. They'll probably still lose this game, since they lack the firepower and depth to beat GS on the road, but the overall team play is better.

Too bad we gave up Wright for a offensive killer.

shit just happens, you never know how a new signing would work out until he suits up and actually plays out there, but that's already too late. theoretically it seemed a good trade back then because PG was our weakest position and we managed to get him while keeping our starting five intact. As a member of our 2011 squad, Barea was our best PG prior to the Rondo trade, and it's now even safer to say that with Nelson gone and Rondo injured.

Lol great call, with curry getting 41 in 3 quarters. Kill yourself.

Defenss is a lot worse, though.

The Rondo move was a good gamble, but it's arguably made the Mavs' worse, and I think what he contributes defensively is negated by his offensive limitations. Rondo is a ball dominant assist whore who can't shoot, and his presence stagnates the Mavs' offense something fierce.

Wright would've been the difference.

so let me guess, the mavs just lost the 6th game in their past 7 games? record doesn't lie and our record since the Rondo trade speaks aloud against what Phillip said, tbh. Our D might be one degree better, but our offense has become 3 degrees worse.

We won 2 of 3 without Rondo. But lost 4 straight before that with Rondo.

Yeah and we could've won the game last night, would've won the game had we kept up our superb performance of the 1st half quarter.

from my understanding, stats show that the starting lineups offense is still top 5, while the defense is top 10 when Rondo is in the lineup. That kind of balance is what wins championships.

They need a backup big man badly. I was not fully certain about the trade, specifically because of the spacing issue Rondo may present, but its not nearly as big as people are making it out to be. If you watch the games, Rondo's effect on the spacing isn't the problem. The biggest issue for the Mavs has been the bench unit's lack of spacing due to Wright's departure, as well as Aminu not getting much PT for a while. Harris and Barea have generally been GARBAGE since Wright left, although the past few games have been doing better as they adjust. I also don't think it is a coincidence that as Aminu has gotten more PT, and Parsons is getting more minutes with the bench unit and more usage with the bench units, the bench in general has been doing better.

A little more time for Carlisle and the team to make adjustments and build chemistry, as well as finding a backup big (O'Neal, Okafor, Blatche) will fix a lot of problems. Don't be so focused on what's going on right now for any reason other than building chemistry. Come playoffs, we all know that Rondo and Dirk both can and likely will kick it up a notch, and Tyson will be playing 35-40 minutes a night, which will cover over a lot of the bench deficiencies. With Rondo and Tyson, as opposed to Calderon and Dalembert, this is a team more well built for playoff success.

Also don't ignore how Parsons has steadily been becoming VERY comfortable with the offense these past couple weeks. His chemistry with the team is going to be VERY important if the team wants to make a serious playoff run. Something I've noticed about him is he seems to have a tendency to hit clutch shots, and when the offense is out of sync as the opponent goes on a run, he is almost always the one to stop the bleeding with a strong drive and finish at the basket.

He really does look diminished athletically and with being scared of the free throw line he cant shoot or drive as aggressively to the lane
