CLEVELAND -- The Los Angeles Clippers (http://espn.go.com/nba/team/_/name/lac/los-angeles-clippers) will be the first to admit that technical fouls didn't costhttp://cdncache1-a.akamaihd.net/items/it/img/arrow-10x10.png (http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/story/_/id/12287430/chris-paul-los-angeles-clippers-frustrated-techs-female-rookie-ref-not-her?ex_cid=sportscenterFB#) them in their 105-94 loss (http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=400579035) to the Cleveland Cavaliers (http://espn.go.com/nba/team/_/name/cle/cleveland-cavaliers) on Thursday night, but after the game, they still were fuming about being T'd up five times.

"I think we have to show better composure, but at the same time some of [the technical fouls] were ridiculous," Chris Paul (http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/2779/chris-paul) said. "The tech that I get right there was ridiculous. I don't care what nobody says, I don't care what she says; that's terrible. There's no way that can be a tech. We try to get the ball out fast every time down the court, and when we did that, she said, 'Uh-uh.' I said, 'Why, uh-uh?' And she gave me a tech."

Paul's technical came with 10:17 left in the second quarter when he tried to get the inbounds pass quickly but instead was T'd up after questioning Lauren Holtkamp, who became the third woman to referee NBA games full time this season.

"That's ridiculous," Paul said. "If that's the case, this might not be for her."

Holtkamp also gave DeAndre Jordan (http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/3442/deandre-jordan) a technical foul with 9:30 left in the third quarter after screaming for a foul following a dunk.

Technical fouls for reactions are way to strong of a penalty. Can't just give free points away for bullshit. That power just gives the refs another way to fuck the outcome of a game. Instead of giving away free points the nba should extend the shot clock time of the opponent.

She's a shitty ref, female or not. I hate the clippers, but the amount of techs she was calling was out of control. Must have been on the rag.

She was trying to compensate for being a female, not to say rookie ref. Reasserting herself as the one with the power by Teching them up off set.

Barnes tech for intentionally holding the arm was a bullshit call.

Same with Jordans cussing after the dunk.

Eh power trip. Paul should have kept his cool when asked about it, and not resorted to "this might not be for her." But other than that, lame techs and also shame on Reggie and Barkley (two of the most hotheaded players in NBA history) for justifying it. The one with DJ, he was likely pumping himself up. Instead Reggie says he was obviously taunting the ref when there was no evidence of that at all.

I'm okay with the equality things since I think I'm pretty fair to most people, but what pisses me off is how the feminazis make it all about them even with the slightest hint of inequality.

"OMG MEN ARE PIGS THEY WANT EVERYTHING ABOUT THEM!!"

"FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHTS, WOMEN!!!"

"MEN, STOP OBJECTIFYING WOMEN!!!"

"IT IS OUR VAGINA AND IT IS OUR CHOICE!!!!!"

"MEN WHO DISAGREE WITH FEMINISM ARE FAT VIRGINS!!!!"

"DON'T TEACH GIRLS TO DEFEND THEMSELVES, TEACH THE MEN NOT TO RAPE!!!!!!"

"WE NEED MORE WOMEN IN MANAGERIAL POSITIONS EVEN IF IT'S NOT MERIT-BASED!!!!"

Get laid or something you stupid pussy holders.

And by the way, feminism used to mean something. It used to mean that women would get equal treatment as men. It meant more opportunities for women to shine and show what their worth is in the world. Now it's just a hollow word that manly-looking lesbians use to make themselves feel good. It just means trying to take everything from men without having to suffer for any consequences.

As a woman, I totally agree. What - can you not criticize the ref because she is a woman? That is sexist. What pronoun was he supposed to use to refer to HER? And then you have the ref association getting all offended like she cannot take it. That is sexist, too. The NBA should handle it like any player criticizing any ref and nothing more. The whole point is supposed to be that she is no different. She should have put on her Big Girl panties and said that this is not the first nor will it be the last time that a player does not agree with her call. By her being quiet and letting everyone else fight for her, SHE is perpetuating the stereotype.

Bingo.

As bad as a ref may be I don't think I've ever heard any player or coach imply that said ref had chosen the wrong career path. NEW YORK (AP) — Clippers guard Chris Paul has been fined $25,000 for criticizing an official after Los Angeles lost 105-94 to Cleveland.

The penalty is in line with others the NBA has levied for being critical of officials. Paul was given a technical by Lauren Holtkamp on Thursday night and afterward said the call was "ridiculous" and seemed to imply that one of the NBA's two female officials may have been in over her head, saying "this might not be for her."

Paul later clarified that he was only upset with the call made by Holtkamp, who is in her first full season as an NBA ref.

The call happened when two Clippers players were inbounding the ball. Paul appeared to say something to Holtkamp and was assessed with a technical.
