1. Lakers eat the contract & cut him loose
2. Kirby signs with Spurs for vet min
3. Pop coaches the asshole out of him
4. Plays 3rd banana to Kawhi & TP

A neutered Kirby in a Spurs uni is pretty funny tho

No, Kobe, the Spurs have more moving pieces than you do.

Evita Ginobili retires and Kobe is bought out and joins the Spurs next year.

people forget Kobe was instrumental in the Team USA win in China tbh. And he did not chuck or was a cancer. I believe he came off the bench even.

that's funny but I could see it working. but I'd be pretty damn conflicted if that was an option. letting him stay even with Duncan on rings...just doesn't set well

If we're gonna have a ballhog, we might as well have a decent one

Enrique for Kobe

Kobe's desperation has become palpable.

Documentaries about his life, about his injuries, grasping at anything to still be "Kobe."

Now he's just plain delusional.

When the Spurs were 'done' they won 50+ games and lost in the first round. Kobe hasn't seen action in a playoff game since 2012. He'd probably sell an organ to win 50 games next year and get into one more playoff series.

The difference between the Spurs Rebirth and what the Lakers are facing is that San Antonio has been able to cut minutes of the big three and they have sacrificed individual stats and production (and money) to allow the Spurs to acquire other, younger talent, develop that talent, and pay that talent. The Lakers, on the other hand, paid Bryant too much money and gutted their roster to a bunch of nobodys (for the most part) and Kobe has been less willing to pass the ball and reduce his minutes. I'm just not certain Kobe could ever make the sacrifice the big three are making. On top of that, the big three have not had season-ending injuries over the last few years. Kobe's body keeps breaking down, and with each injury, he will return as a less capable player.

Nah, by next year Duncan will be ahead by one.

I love this reasoning. Because the longer he thinks he can compete at an elite level, the no longer the Lakers will be in the shit hole as well.

Hope he comes back next year and embarrasses himself even more. If anyone can shoot under 30% for a season its Kirby tbh.

I can see Kobe going the Bruce Jenner route, and playing as the first woman in the NBA next season.

Kobe has Kobe to blame for the Lakers downfall. He singlehandedly destroyed the Lakers franchise. (For the foreseeable future)

Hard to ask for a rebirth when your own game looks like an after-birth.

02-06-2015, 10:18 PM
The re-birth of the Spurs involved Tim doing things that Kobe never could, like accepting 2nd or sometimes 3rd status on offense. We also had to trade a hard asset, George Hill, for the pick that became Kawhi. LA has no such asset.

He'll be an All-Star if he plays another year -- voted in.

In fact, even if he retires, he probably still be an All-Star (like Magic the year after he retired).

He's right. He's just an employee. The death is due to Sr management and ownership.

It would be a fine testimony to the human spirits ability to change from bad to good.

Kirbs, willingly playing a lesser role with a genuine humble, sharing attitude.
Contributing to a legitimate championship.
Wow, that would be something beautiful.
Will it happen? :lmao
But it's possible.

Kobe doesn't pay himself. How can you pin it on him? Sure he's a cancer, but cancer causing agents are at work here and there's a treatment center they refuse to visit.. at some point you have to blame the host.

Throughout his career, Kobe has made statements indicating that he has some kind of preoccupation or maybe even an obsession with the spurs. He's talked at length regarding his feelings towards all of the big three and pop as well. It's like he desperately wishes that the Lakers were them, but doesn't realize that for that to happen, he would have to change who he is. Ironically, he himself is the biggest impediment to becoming that which he covets.

Exactly. He likely cost himself a ring or two by forcing guys out of town / not taking less cash. To each his own.
