I'm in Austin tonight and tomorrow and I need the best way to get down to the UT rec center from my hotel. Need to be there tomorrow morning at 9 and my hotel is at the intersection of I35 and 183. Traffic taken into consideration, is it easier to shoot down 35 or maybe cut over to Lamar and come down MLK? Is there a better way than either of those?

Not really. It's probably going to suck either way, but at least you won't be going north... those poor bastards.

Doesn't Google maps give you an option for traffic info in addition to drawing the shortest route?

Actually, Airport might not be so bad. A little winding, but probably less traffic.

Yeah...just figured the locals might have a better take.

Why would it be bad at 9AM Saturday? If I-35 is at a standstill for some reason just go on Red River.

Oh yeah. It's Saturday. Shouldn't be bad at all.

No idea...probably because I don't live down here. Thanks for the advice though.

Why do you need to be at the rec center?

Getting certified to teach cycling classes at my gym. Been doing them for cardio for several years now. They needed more instructors so I figured what the hell...I do them anyway so might as well get paid.

Jesus..you have to get a certification of achievement to teach someone to fucking peddle a bike these days? What's next? I gotta go to school to practice medicine?!

I'm trying to think of which hotel is at that intersection. I don't recall one there. Are you sure it's not 290 and IH35?

It is a rare thread on ST that gives a straight answer to a question. Kudos to you Benefactor!

35 is the only way to get around austin. that's what happens when you get aggies to design your highway system.
