Yeah, I'm the one flying into a disaster area where thousands are dieing around me and declaring that the Feds are doing everything they can. Try telling that to the thousands, perhaps tens of thousands, of victims who's time has run out.

What else do you expect a president to do? How long did it take Clinton to show up in OKC in 1995?

You've spent the last 3 days castigating the President for what he hasn't done, including his apparently insufficient flyover a couple of days ago. Now, the man has gone to the area to see the damage and you're castigating him for doing that.
Is the President's problem just that he breathes?
Presidents do tend to go into major disaster areas, often several days after the disaster has occurred, once the situation has been somewhat stablized, because people are looking for displays of leadership. Clinton went to Oklahoma City, Bush 43 went to NYC. It's not as if his trip is unprecedented or unusual.
Again, I do NOT support this President and vehemently disagree with virtually every single one of his policies. But making politics out of catastrophe is just unseemly.

Too little to late, don't you think? I mean, It's good to see the aid trucks finally coming into the dome and convention center, but it would have been astronomically better if those trucks came in 2 days ago. Why does the mayor of a major city have to send a SOS for help while our national leaders sit on their hands?
This incident has been a colossal cluster-fuck from the very beginning when someone diverted helicopters that were supposed to drop sandbags on the levee breach that consequently flooded the entire city.
Yesterday, NO local officials had to pull 100 officers from security duty at the dome so they could go save the last shred of drinking water left in the city or the Mayor said thousands more would have died as a result.
Don't give me this shit about W's concern, when Terry Schiavo was in a hospital dieing of her own free will W flew overnight and convened congress that same day to try and save one life, but he took 5 days to get his ass to NO and 4 to even get to Washington and convene the Senate and Congress for emergency funding. Unfuckenbelievable.

Local, state, and then federal. The Feds gave NO city govt and LA state govt time to react before coming in and taking over. This approach is not new nor unique to this administration.
The Feds did what they could do. The area was already declared a disaster area before the hurricane hit and FEMA or whatever was getting itself in place.
Fuck it. Be an internet hero and castigate whichever politicians of your choosing.

I put more blame on the La. Governor for the unrest.
1) The national guard should have been called upon to help refugees when entering the SuperDome BEFORE the storm. Am I correct in thinking the state's governor activates the national guard?
2) Porta-potties should have been ready for the dome. The state had 3 days to ready for the influx into the dome. Forcasters were constantly warning New Orleans about a potential strike.
Pre-hurricane preparedness for the state of Louisianan was poor at best.

Dan is god of all knowledge. He is like Santa Claus for Republican Politicians. He knows exactly when their naughty. Does anyone KNOW FOR SURE that aid could have gotten to the people any quicker? Does anyone KNOW FOR SURE that more people could have been evacuated? Does anyone KNOW FOR SURE that the absolute most is not already being done? Someone please come forward and tell me you know any of that FOR SURE.

Getting it self in place where? 4 days after Katrina hit there were 1,500 New Orleans police officers (many of who had deserted and joined the looters), an additional 300 law enforcement personnel, and 250 National Guard troops in NO. Two thousand law enforcement personel to help rescue an estimated 120,000 people.
In the coming days we are going to be getting some really hard to except figures about the number of people who died in the NO flood. The right has already started to play this whole nasty incident off as a disaster that was inevitable. Nothing could have been done, New Orleans was doomed from the start, but what they forget to mention is that since 2001 the defense dept has consistently reduced the money by half the Army Corp of Engineers has received to help prevent just this kind of disaster from happening in NO. The money was instead spent in Iraq.

The "tagesschau" is the most popular German news program by far, aired at 8 p.m. The German US correspondents, usually very careful in criticizing the US government, were outraged.
Christina Adelhardt was in Biloxi the whole day. She said she couldn't believe what she saw: Rescue teams, teams for searching bodies and their vehicles showed up, but without being necessary at all - the area was vacated since days.
She said: I'm shocked about the amount of destruction caused by Katrina. But the coreographed events I've seen here today shocked me the same, if not more.

I know FOR SURE that your argument is weak. C'mon guy, if you want to be difficult what the hell do we know for sure. Speculation is almost necessary, unless you want to be a puppet to your government. They will never reveal embarrasing, or awful truths.

B.S Good point if you're holed up in the same cocoon that dan is. Other than that it's typical Dan hogwash!
Overnight my butt, Schiavo was comatose for 10 years dan and her story was being aired by the news mediums long before the President convened a sympathec congress. Quit twisting events to suit your lame attacks on the president!
Emergency crews had to evacuate those stranded via helicopter and boat so how the heck was President Bush supposed to be there. What did you expect, for the president to wade through chest deep sewage to confront the armed looters? SS isn't going to allow the President's life to be put in danger to try to appease wharped nut cases like you.

Cecil,
Knowing your political tendencies I'm comfortable with your response.
On the other hand if you would have agreed with me, then I would have been alarmed and gone over my post with a fine-toothed-comb to see where I had gone wrong.
Thanks for comfirming that my comments were interpreted as intended.
Sincerely,
