Holy shit, Struggle might be the most cancerous teammate since prime Kirby :wow

Wonder if he'll regret going full Pippen and demanding that the last play be run for him when he doesn't have Lynch around to carry his ass anymore?

tbh I haven't seen a RB this overrated maybe ever. He was garbage in Buffalo, benefited from zone blocking in Seattle the same way all those shitty Denver RB's did, and then got mythical God-like status for one huge run against a shitty Saints defense. He's decent but not a top RB by any stretch.

Obviously you know nothing about running backs. The guy averages 4.3 for a career, Do I really need that long list of great backs who averaged less, how about Emmitt Smith?

Lynch was great at Buffalo rushing for over a 1000 as a rookie. In his last three Seattlle seasons he is averaging 4.5 a carry, that is fantastic!

Marshawn Lynch is the most dynamic runner in the game today. And only a fool/blind man wouldn't see it.

I never heard anyone criticize Bart Starr for having Jim Taylor/Paul Hornung and a defense with 4 HOFer to be on it. Who ridiculed Terry Bradshaw with Franco/Rocky Bliear two 1000 yard rusher and two HOF receivers in Swann/Stallworh and a defense with 4 HOFer to be on it? HOFer Bob Griese had HOFer Larry Csonka and Eugene "Mercury" Morris/Jim Kiick.

Don Meredith had Don Perkins, Roger the Dodger had Tony Dorsett, Troy had Emmitt and now Romo has Murray.

Dan Marino had Duper (9.4 sprinter) and Clayton and Tony Nathan and Nat Moore.

Fouts had Chuck Muncie, John Jefferson (Wes Chandler) Charlie Joiner and Kellen Winslow.

Otto Graham had Marion Motley, Mac Speedie, Dante Levelli.

Jim Kelly had Thurman Thomas/Andre Reed.

Johnny U had Lenny Moore, Ray Berry, John Mackey.

Broadway Joe had Matt Snell, Emerson Boozer, Don Maynard and George Sauer.

Montana had Freddie Solomon, Dwight Clarke, Roger Craig, Jerry Rice, John Taylor, Bert Jones.

Peyton had Edgerrin James, Dallas Clarke, Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, the Thomas's. Wes Welker, Emanuel Sanders.

Russell Wilson has had Marshawn Lynch.

He wasn't terrible in Buffalo, he just got Wally Pipped by Fred Jackson during his legal troubles. He's also pretty much had to carry the offense in Seattle in the most pass-happy era in NFL history because his team's quarterback is a game-managing fraud.

He wasn't great in Buffalo by any stretch--but to be fair outside of the years we had Levitre at LG, only Eric wood has been an NFL-worthy lineman for the Bills.

Even when Lynch isn't barreling through people he always seems to get positive yardage. He's also routinely facing 8-man fronts moreso than any back aside from Peterson, yet he still produces, is an excellent blocker, wears defenses down, and sets up the PA passing game.

he was certainly a disappointment in Buffalo. not that it was necessarily on him, but they didn't get the production they expected with that draft pick. as Mono said in the OP he has benefitted from Seattle's run blocking scheme. Tom Cable is still running their O-Line, and with Cable's zone blocking scheme even Justin Fargas looked like a really good NFL running back for some time

Lynch is pretty underrated as a receiver though. he's a natural hands catcher, whereas most running backs need to body-catch it

Exactly, and behind a below average offensive line. There are few rushers in the league who would succeed in that situation.

He gained over 3000 yards in three seasons at Buffalo, that's great for a three years back.

Marshawn Lynch is unique. A 215 pound power back with good speed and elusiveness (not too be confused with Sanders, Sayers) Most guys who beat up defenders like he does are big cats like Alstott, Csonka, Riggins, Campbell. But none of them could catch the ball like he does.

Both Simpson and Dickerson were 215 pounders but while more zooooommm they didn't break tackles like this guy does. They didn't wear down defenses like he does. How many times have we seen him held pretty much in check for a half and then in the second half he starts breaking off 8-12-16 runs?

Cookie Gilchrist 250 pounds, Christian Okoye 255, Jim Brown 230, Mack "The Truck" Lee Hill 225 and way back when Marion Mottley** 240 the most powerful backs I've ever seen. Lynch is right there on the edge.

Stupid, you always count receiving yards. Are you really this fucking dumb? And...to have two 1000 yards seasons right out of the gate is great! Of course being an idiot you wouldn't know that.......either!

The word "great" sure gets used pretty liberally in the NFL Forum:lol

Travis Henry's first 3 seasons:

3523 rushing yards, 27 TDs
646 rec yds, 2 TDs

Willis McGahee's first 3 seasons (not counting 2003 when he was out for the year):

3365 rushing yds, 24 TDs
503 receiving yds

Antowain Smith:

2578 rushing yards, 22 TDs (only started in 25 of first 48 games, too).
220 receiving yards
Had 2 rushing TD's in the forward-lateral playoff game too

Marshawn is my boy and he's been invaluable to Seattle, but he wasn't great in Buffalo--a lot of that has to do with the O-line and having J.P. Losman or Trent Edwards at QB, though...

Anytime a rookie comes in and knocks out two 1000 yard seasons, that's great work. That's why you brought him in.

Oh yeah....67-49 plus $2140, hahaha!!!!!!!!!!! Now add....keep an eye on Russell Wilson, he's going to be special. Now add...I'm taking NE, no third QB is beating Belichick/Brady in a big game. Now add...taking Ohio State and the points. How about...Nick Chubb will do just fine. How about...the Seahawks will be the team to break that "no SB winning team has won a playoff game in the last 8 years".

Stop fighting it so hard shorty, ok? Yep, an expert and if you weren't an idiot you'd see it. Wanna talk Leslie "Speedy" Duncan, hahahaha!!!!!!!!!!! How's bout Gene Foster, Cid Edwards, you're a Charger fan. Gary Garrison?

Dude, been into this stuff since the late 50's, ok? Right over there....The Encyclopedia of the National Football League. Give it up amigo, you look stupid trying to ignore reality.

Wanna talk the All Time backfield where everyone had attended a junior college? How about the All Time backfield where everyone ran the hurdles in college? Hahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!......totally different level here slick and it is funny watching little shits like you.

JLW had 9662 career yards, and he had consecutive years of 1528 yds, 1156 yds, 1413 yds, and 1240 yds. He was a great RB and maybe the best in Seahawks history.

Shannon Sharpe was saying yesterday that without Lynch RW would be a fraction of the QB he is and that he does not think RW is a top 10 to 15 QB in the league. :rollin

Sounds about right to me. I hope Lynch retires and RW gets overpaid. Then we'll see how good he truly is with a "so-called" decent replacement in Turbin and a weaker defense since the defense will likely not be able to afford all of its current higher paid assets due to RWs bigger contract. :corn:

You totally missed the point.

Elite QBs can overcome other deficiences a team may have. Right now RW's team has a great defense and a solid running game. Was just curious to if RW can elevate his game when face with more deficiences than he currently has.

spurraider21
02-20-2015, 03:17 PM
oh, if your contention is just that Wilson isn't elite, then i'm in agreement. i also know that pushing the reset button at the QB position sets a franchise back several years unless they're about to take an andrew luck. lynch's retirement will certainly hurt the team, he's one of the best backs in the game. that's not really a revelation. anytime a team loses a great player, they'll take a step back. and as for the "elite qb can make up for losses" its not entirely accurate. in the past few seasons, compare brady's numbers with and without gronk in the lineup.

wilson can be the qb of that team for another decade. will he ever be a top 3 qb in the league? probably not. but that's not a requisite to being a great team. Lynch will be 29 with mileage and apparently back problems.

I just want to see if he can do more / less / same when given more responsibilities. Since he is coming off his rookie contract I wil lbe curious how much the team will be able to keep that defense together. Who knows what Lynch is thinking/does so more responsibilities will be put on his table. Just want to see how he reacts, meaning have we seen his ceiling or can he take a team on his shoulders so to speak.

as of now the team is built to run the ball. Doug Baldwin is a good #3 receiver on any decently built team. Instead he's the #1 starting alongside Jermaine Kearse.

if Lynch retires, they either have to:
a) replace him with a high draft pick and try to maintain their current playstyle
b) move on from the run-centric offense and pick up some receiving weapons

if they just lose lynch, hope to replace him with turban, and keep their receiving corps the same, they will certainly struggle on offense. most any quarterback would

Agree that the WRs on the team are below average. I would think that they would try to address the WR recevier through the draft or FA. A lot of variables in play. Lynch could walk / stay and then the franchise has to adjust as will RW to what his personnel will be. Wil be interesting as time goes by to see if he can keep up the pace he has been going at.

I said everyone acts like Lynch is the only great back the Seahawks ever had because of the fact nobody brings up Shawn Alexander who had a far better career than Lynch. Where's talk about Curt Warner and Chris Warren? Look moron, my point was everyone but Lynch is being ignored. Being CN is an idiot...ZOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMM.

Why weren't the Seahawks kicking ass with Alexander if it's all about running backs, well? That was my point dummy, ok?

Because no one is talking about the history. We are talking about today's game, dumbass.

And RB and QB aren't the only components of a team, dummy, ok?

Oh really, so what is this....

How about knowing about what you're talking about ok little man?

Yeah, it's not like they went to a Super Bowl with Alexander or anything.

The "expert" once again demonstrating his lack of NFL knowledge :lol
