Still Duncan after all these years

NEW YORK — Rick Barnes has spent his entire adult life recruiting teenagers to play college basketball. It often can be like working as a gold prospector. Or a stock broker. Or a storm chaser.

It’s how Barnes, who’s now the University of Texas basketball coach, came to be in a cow pasture in the middle of paradise in summer 1992.

He was coaching at Providence at the time, on the lookout for a big man he might be able to redshirt.

The search led him to a middle-of-nowhere high school gym on the Virgin Island of St. Croix. There, Barnes became one of the first college coaches in the world to lay eyes on Tim Duncan, who tonight is making his 15th appearance in the NBA All-Star game.

I wonder I'd Duncan would still be around after he retires. Or if he will choose to reside in Virgin Islands, I hope not.
He's psychology graduate there's still room for his services other than playing on the court.

It will be one of the saddest moment for his fans(other than losing to LA Lakers for .04 or 2013 finals vs Miami), the moment he'll announce his retirement. But thankful for his contribution to the league & his leading the team to 5 titles & his other accomplishments. We are proud to be Spurs fans because of him, as a role model to emulate, charities, and the Spurs organization as a whole.

I think he'll stay in San Antonio. When one has kids, you settle where the kids are used to (they have their friends, activities, etc). My kids are so Americanized - there's no way they'd go back to my native Jamaica - too slow/boring.
