That would be too subtle.
What is good is clearly they are friends off the court enough not to feel insulted or threatened by the ribbing. Bodes well for team harmony - which seems to have picked up a bit with a few wins

Then why was he looking at the steers?

The southern brazilian states like to do something similar to the 'running of the bulls', common in Spain. Besides the NGO against animal cruelty protests, they keep doing it.

Dude, Australians love Cowboys. Out in the Outback, you would find a lot of cowboys and ranchers. And there are many Cowboys in Central and Latin America. Rodeo was first used by Latin Americans to mean rounding up cattle.

And just a history lesson, the Spanish were the first cowboys if you ever wonder why so many Cowboy related things had Spanish names. Tejanos might seem funny to other nationalities because it looks like a bunch of Mexicans trying to be Cowboys. Vaqueros were the original Cowboys in the Americas. I know this because my family were Rancheros for hundreds of years in Texas.

Brazil and Australia are big players in the meat global market. Australia is the largest exporter of beef cattle and Brazil has the biggest cattle herd with over 200 million heads and both countries exchange the #1 and 2 places as the biggest meat exporters. Brazil has a strong rodeo league. Finally, Brazil is the biggest U.S. rival when it comes to bull riding. Personally, I don't like it because it's so redneck. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Professional_Bull_Riders

Edit: Tiago's state is the biggest pork meat producer. Just put Tiago chasing pigs to train his footwork.

Don't try to confuse the issue with facts. That doesn't fly in this forum.

LOL Australian cowboys! Not in this century and barely in the last. Stockmen and drovers, cowboys not so much.

LOL Australian cowboys! Not in this century and barely in the last. Stockmen and drovers, cowboys not so much.

That is basically verbatim what Cowboys are. The Australian terminology is just different but it the same thing.

Cowboys is an American term, Stockmen is the English/Australian term, Vaquero/Gauchos is the Spanish/Latin American term. In New Zealand, they refer to cattle ranchers as Shepherds.

But if you ask an American to describe the people that work cattle/horses in Australians, Kiwis, Mexicans, and South Americans, they all would say they are Cowboys or Ranchers. I refer to them as Cowboys because that is what these men are.

Not so much - shepherds are sheep farmers hence the 'shep' at the start of the word, not noted for riding horses but is known for working dogs and 'Cow' at the front of 'cowboys'. Image of a cowboy is horse, gun, hat etc.
A stockman is someone who works on a property - usually a largish one, which might be 2,000-6,000 head, 1,000sq/km or bigger and these days more likely to use a helicopter and quad bike, will still use dogs such as blue heeler or kelpie. A drover is someone who moves stock overland for sale or to look for better pasture - could be sheep or cattle, uses dogs too. Job is probably the same, historical context and cultural context quite different.

Rodeo is a big business nowadays, a professional sport. Still stupid and barbarian, but a professional sport, envolving money, sponsors, media, etc. The image of a cowboy with guns is just an image brought by the old movies. Nobody rides a bull or a horse using guns, it's just plain stupid and dangerous.
