He's right. We had just come off our back2back and was ready to retool for another run that would have pushed Kobe past Jordan in ring counts. Everyone knew it and everyone was crying about it. I called foul play first.

Commissioner,
It would be a travesty to allow the Lakers to acquire Chris Paul in the apparent trade being discussed.
This trade should go to a vote of the 29 owners of the Hornets.
Over the next three seasons this deal would save the Lakers approximately $20 million in salaries and approximately $21 million in luxury taxes. That $21 million goes to non-taxpaying teams and to fund revenue sharing.
I cannot remember ever seeing a trade where a team got by far the best player in the trade and saved over $40 million in the process. And it doesn’t appear that they would give up any draft picks, which might allow to later make a trade for Dwight Howard (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3818/). (They would also get a large trade exception that would help them improve their team and/or eventually trade for Howard.) When the Lakers got Pau Gasol (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3513/) (at the time considered an extremely lopsided trade) they took on tens of millions in additional salary and luxury tax and they gave up a number of prospects (one in Marc Gasol (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/4325/) who may become a max-salary player).
I just don’t see how we can allow this trade to happen.
I know the vast majority of owners feel the same way that I do.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?
Please advise…
Dan G.

Kobe needs to shut the fuck up. He's not even playing right now.

Why is he going on an interview tour to keep his name in the press? He's completely irrelevant to the current NBA season.

Stop yucking it up with Ahmad Rashad and and GQ magazine and the like and go rehab your shoulder, you little bitch.

Kobe and CP3 would have been a nightmare, they'd have been fighting worse than Kobe and Shaq. Yeah, they'd probably be somewhere in the playoffs, but I don't think they'd have made much noise.

That's why I laughed at you farmers calling Mitch "cupcake". It's cool, they just delayed the inevitable: LA passing Boston in rang totals. They succeeded on keeping Kobe behind MJ though. Small victory, I guess.

CP3 and Kobe wouldn't work. The Lakers would be spending $20 million on a point guard to bring the ball up and pass to Kobe. Bean's on record saying he doesn't like chumps, that he'll walk over you but the reality is this is exactly why the Kobe-Gasol tandem worked. Luckily for the Lakers, Pau became a nigga (Thanks to Kobe) and found a pair in 2009 and 2010.

he is right about the lockout. It was the right thing to do also, the league had become a joke, i mean an ignorant team winning it all just because they have boatloads of money more than anyone and a position of absolute power just isn't right. He is wrong about thinking the cp trade would have changed much for him though.

You seem like a pretty smart farmer. If 50/82=~0.61, then 4+0.61=4.61.

Riddle me this: is 5 > 4.61? Answer: YES! Therefore, since this basic math is a scientifically proven fact, one HAS to conclude that Kobe > DuncanPERIOD.

Kobe doesn't play off the ball, and Paul is arguably the most ball-dominant PG in NBA history..people make the same mistake with Rondo, they think that a player that dominates the ball will easily fit well if he's known for getting assists..

Stern was the owner. He could legally veto. It's been 4 years. Stop crying about it. You guys still got the best center in the nba before realizing he was dumb at the time for nothing and got steve fucking nash before all those injuries and still kept the core that got you 3 straight finals and 2 titles.

Wade isn't to bad off the ball, not a floor spacer but he was great at finding seams with cuts and working the baselines off ball for dunks/layups. Being good off the ball isn't just spreading the floor and catch and shoot opportunities.
