View Full Version : What does your Handle (name) mean?

ZStomp

I posted something similar to this-- asking another poster what his name meant. So I though I would ask this.

What does your name mean?

ZStomp
This is from an Ozzy Osbourne song, Zombie Stomp (on the No More Tears album).

What's your story?

I had to quit my job when I moved to Houston. I didn't want to lose the nickname so I immortalized myself here. :lol

Cosmic Cowboy
by Michael Martin Murphy
from Dirt Silver & Gold and Stars & Stripes Forever

Merry-go-rounds and burial grounds
Are all the same to me.
Horses on post and kids and ghosts
Are spirits that we ought to set free.
Then city slicker pickers got a lot of
Slicker licks than me.
But ridin' the range and acting strange
Is where I want to be.

And I just wanna be a cosmic cowboy
I just wanna ride and rope and hoot (hoot!)
Well I just wanna be a cosmic cowboy
Talkin' 'bout a supernatural country rockin' galoot

Well skinny dippin' and Lone Star sippin' and steel guitar
And are just as good as Hollywood and some boogie-woogie bars.
I'm gonna buy me a vest and a head out west
My little woman and myself.
And when we come to town the people gather around
And marvel at the little baby's health.

And I just wanna be a cosmic cowboy
I just wanna ride and rope and hoot (hoot!)
Well I just wanna be a cosmic cowboy
I said a supernatural country rockin' galoot.

Then a big raccoon and a harvest moon
Keep rolling through my mind.
And a home on the range where the antelope play
Is sometimes hard to find.
So don't bury me on the lone prairie.
I'd rather play there alive.
Well, I'm doing my best I keep my farm in the west
My little bronco in over-drive.

And I just wanna be a cosmic cowboy
I just wanna ride and rope and hoot (hoot!)
Well I just wanna be a cosmic cowboy
Talkin' 'bout a supernatural country rockin' galoot.

And I just wanna be a cosmic cowboy
I just wanna ride and rope and hoot (hoot!)
Well I just wanna be a cosmic cowboy
Talkin' 'bout a supernatural country rockin' galoot

"minusplus" actually started about a year and a half ago as "minusplusequal"
on Yahoo NBA boards where there's a alot of good posters on the Spurs Board.
I also use this user name in Raging Bull and Don Penny stock boards.

I actually came up with that username after I came up with "nothing" so I started looking at the number pad on the right side and I saw -+ and used the = sign as the enter. I have a facination with numbers, stats, money, equations etc. And the minus and plus signs are basic symbols in life. You create the equation.

Self explanatory.

Started using this name on SpursCentral last summer when I joined, didn't want to change it after I stuck around. When I came over here, I kept it because I know there are some people (like me) who use both boards.

A few people have said I have a good poker face. I used PokerFace21 for a while after Sean Elliot had said that about Duncan (abbreviated it's PF21 which could also be Power Forward 21).

But then I liked the sound of gameface better and thought it also applied. It's more universal.

My name comes from a short story I wrote for my creative writing class my first year at Blinn College in Bryan. We had to write a 200 word story, so mine was about a midget named Lucky. He rode around on a donkey all day punching guys in the nuts. It was called "The Legend of Lucky."

I thought it was funny.

DieMrBond
09-03-2005, 04:41 AM
I guess mine is fairly self-explanatory... but ill explain anyway. Back when i was young and a *gasp* computer nerd, i went to a computer game lan with some friends. The guy whos house it was was a HUGE james bond fanatic. So i created the game called, "Die, Mr Bond!" and started playing as "Mr Bond". Consequently, everyone started yelling "Die, Mr Bond!" as I was winning. (i remind you, we were computer nerds...) I thought, hey thats a cool username so i called myself 'Die Mr Bond', which got shortened to 'DieMrBond', which then got shortened to [dmb] - but i didnt think that that would make sense on here, so i put it back to Die Mr Bond...

I was AlamoStarsFan on WOAI's Feedback Zone, and being a huge Rush fan, when I hit 2112 posts I retired the name. By then I had gotten so used to the abbreviation ASF that I had to come up with something that would fit. This was a no-brainer.

I initially thought about switching to AlamoRushFan, but ARF just sounded like a dog to me...

KEDA
09-03-2005, 10:15 AM
ok, here goes

the legend of KEDA

(pronounced Keeda)

I grew up in the thiriving metroplois of the wonderful city of Bulverde, Texas!

In the early eighties, there were no grocery stores within aout 25 miles of our house. So when my parents would go to the store, it was a once-a-month trip that would usually take about 2-3 hours (and 3-4 carts worth of stuff). Well, as you can imagine 2-3 hours in a grocery store is pretty boring for a four year old, so i would take off and go look down the toy aisle. And when it was time to leave, my pop would holler out KEDA, and that was the signal for me to go (if you telled out BILLY, 7 or 8 people would turn and look at you like you were a nut). So the name KEDA stuck.

I asked my Dad on day why he chose KEDA, and he said it was the first word that came in his mind.

So there you go, now everyone has a story that they can tell their grandkids!

My name is Samuel Plinkerton, so that is why the first two letters are "S" and "P".

One of my favorite hobbies is going URMing (or "URMin") as we Texas folk say it... I study and explore examples of Unreinforced Masonry (URM), (http://www.abag.ca.gov/bayarea/eqmaps/shelpop/typ2_f.html) and travel to different parts of the country to visit these architectural rarities, as many mandates have caused these buildings to be modified. So I used my initials (eas) and his initials (jer) and on the knot added the year of our marriage (05) and had easjer05. I dropped that when I left the knot, but ever since it's been part of my identity. easjer. It's funny, because I always read it as initials, but no one else does, of course.
