I will laugh at this post if demarco goes to eagles.

It'll be really interesting to see what Revis does at this point. It's obvious the Jets have offered him more money than New England but I think we all know (Revis included) that if he goes to a rebuilding team there's a good chance it becomes a disaster and he gets cut before the contract is up.

Pot Roast is a good player, I wish we could have worked something out to bring him aboard (having Dan Williams for a visit instead), but he seems like he's looking for the biggest payday possible. I'm sure the Raiders made him a decent offer, but he says he got lowballed. I think he's expecting something around 9-10 mil per year after seeing what Suh and Odrick got.

Maybe I'm being delusional, but there's no way they don't address the position at this point. I'm indifferent to Browner coming back since he's totally unproven as a stud corner who doesn't have Sherman/Revis on the other side.
Clayton just said this and I agree, but their best strategy might be to wait it out and see if a veteran corner becomes available.

I really like Roy Helu. He is a beast in the screen game, and pretty good finding those running lanes. He did seem to lose some of his speed and explosiveness he had his rookie year after he had that toe injury he had in 2012 that ended his season after the first game. He is a pretty bad blocker though. Good pickup for the Raiders if he is there third down running back.

If they weren't willing to offer $40MM guaranteed and that's what he wanted (that's what's being reported), then I agree completely. He wasn't gonna have any trouble getting that on the open market, so if they didn't want to offer it they should have been planning for it ahead of time.

The number of years and the fact it's front loaded is my only issue with it. I was fully expecting it to cost $13 - $14MM a year to keep him with a mostly guaranteed contract, I'm not sure what New England was offering but Raven is right, he wasn't gonna have any trouble getting $13MM+ on the open market so if they weren't willing to offer that much then this shouldn't have been any surprise.

Apparently the Raiders offered Knighton something in the vicinity of 5 mil per year and he's holding out for 8-9. And yet he's still unsigned as teams are continuing to commit their resources elsewhere. At some point his standards will have to drop, as he's largely a 2 down player.

truth be told, he's not worth 8, but we have so much money that we have to spend, that it really shouldn't matter. if they're able to land dan williams for 4-5 mil, it will make up for not landing Knighton though
Buffalo is overpaying for everybody (price of being a shitty franchise in a shitty city), and this looks like cap hell down the road for sure, but fuck it...at least it generates some excitement and hopefully we can get a couple playoff trips out of it. Still have a first-round ceiling until we fix the QB spot...I'm sure Belichick's deathly afraid of the EJ/Cassel combo, and Suh could possibly kill one of them if they don't revamp the interior OL. They probably will though, definitely looks like Roman wants to pound the rock...would make no sense to tie up 10mil in Clay and Felton then not address the gaping OL holes.

Clay will get beaucoup bucks, Felton got like 3mil (:lol for a fucking FB), the guaranteed McCoy and Hughes money, and word is that they'll chase Cromartie too, but that's just a rumor afaik. I'm seeing that Harvin is visiting Buffalo first, but why would they want him? We already have that same kind of player, w/o the migraines. I want a big-bodied tall WR, not more of the same soft speedsters.

i think they're just trying to make everything as easy as possible for Cassel... trading for McCoy and signing Felton is a very rex move. he loved fullbacks in New York too. Harvin for short easy targets, not making Cassel work too hard. Clay for obvious reasons.
I really hope we wind up with Harvin though, would be nice after losing out on Cobb. We need anything to spark the passing game.

It makes more sense for them to get Mathews than Murray. They traded away Lesean McCoy supposedly because of his contract, so why would you want to sign a guy who is going to demand a similar contract?
I don't get your statement. They were willing to sign him for almost the same amount as McCoy and Gore backed out not them because he got more by using their contract as bait. They also traded for a oft-injured QB who will be making way more than Foles was in salary for 2015. The contract point was moot so not sure why you even try replying with it. BTW Murray was never going to the Eagles anyways, they won't give him the guaranteed.

Agreed. Teams and fans always overvalue Saints WR's and don't take into account how average they are when a HOF QB isn't throwing passes to them. The same thing happened with Meacham (bust in San Diego) and Lance Moore (bust in Pittsburg). Good QBs can make almost any WR look good.

So this offseason, they've traded Matt Cassel and a 6th for Mike Wallace and 2 7th's... pretty good. Not sure the fit is great, if Teddy has a flaw its his deep ball, and Wallace is a one trick pony. Natural fit for Norv, but not quite for Teddy. Will be interesting to see if Bridgewater can answer questions about his arm limitations.

You really think we'd use our first rounder on a RB? Cause that's the only way we'd get Gordon or Gurley. I don't see it. Tevin might be an option if he's still there in the 2nd. There's some good RB's to be had later in the draft though, tbh. Wouldn't be surprised if we waited til rounds 3-5 to pick one up.
if gurley or gordon is there at 27 then the cowboys should take either one, they'd be the best player available at that point. if neither is there, then go defense(d line or linebacker) and look at coleman later.

initially i wanted gordon but lately i've been stuck on gurley. i know he's coming off an injury but before he got hurt, he was a lock for the heisman and reminds me of a faster eddie george. everything i've read so far points to him being a hundred percent by training camp.
imagine this guy in dallashttp://i58.tinypic.com/kcgwsg.png

outside of my top 3 of gurley, gordon and coleman i like jay aiyai from boise state, duke johnson from miami and javorius allen from southern california.
with all that said, we should stay put at 27 and not trade up to draft a rb. ever since stephen jones and will mcclay took over the draft, we've been good at staying put and drafting best available player. we cannot let will mcclay leave, pay that man whatever to keep him.

Same here. Liked Gordon all year but if we go RB, I'd take Gurley. He looks like a workhorse. Starting to think he won't be there though.

More from the overpriced department: A year after balking at Antonio Cromartie's one-year, $3.25 million price tag, the Jets reunited with the veteran cornerback on a mega contract reported to be worth $32 million over four years
:lol Jets
:lol Paying Cro 8mil/yr after not wnating him for 3.25
:lol 5.5/yr for Gilchrist
LOSERS
Saints continuity: New Orleans isn't "blowing things up." They are still spending money, but dramatically changing their roster. It feels like a team acting out of emotion without a coherent plan. They gave Jimmy Graham big money, and thendeal him eight months later. They let Darren Sproles walk, and then sign C.J. Spiller for far more money. They are putting all their resources into solving their defense one offseason after believing their defense was in great shape.
Houston: Cutting Andre Johnson was tough for Texans fans to swallow. Watching him beat them at Lucas Oil Field as he finishes off his Hall of Fame career will be tougher. I liked the Rahim Mooresigning, but it's hard to get excited about a Ryan Mallett competition with Brian Hoyer.
Chicago Bears: Royal getting $10 million guaranteed was a head scratcher. And Pernell McPheecould be the latest Ravens defender to look a lot different away from Baltimore. It's also hard to get excited about a team that is so openly ambivalent about its starting quarterback.
Joe Philbin: As Dan Hanzus noted in this week's End Around, Philbin was conspicuous by his absence this week.
Anyone that wasn't on the internet last weekend: Free agency starts on Coughlin time now. Recognize.
Niners: The Rams got better with Nick Fairley, Nick Foles and more draft picks. The Seahawks gotJimmy Graham, while the Cardinals have quietly made some nice moves. The 49ers, meanwhile, watched a lot of Pro Bowlers walk out the door.
Dallas Cowboys: A lot of ex-Cowboys have made a lot of money in free agency, which should be considered an indirect compliment to Jason Garrett's program. The list of departures is large: Murray,Justin Durant, Bruce Carter, Jermey Parnell and Henry Melton. The list of arrivals is not pretty: Darren McFadden and Jed Collins.
This free agency period is far from over, but you know this is killing Jerry Jones to sit on the sideline.

And for you guys it wouldn't matter that much if he is suspended for part of the first year since you aren't near contending yet.

The Cowboys fans (or fans of any other teams for that matter) who want to draft Gurley in the 1st round are fucking retarded. Drafting running backs in the 1st round is always a horrible idea, but it's even worse when the RB has the mileage Gurley has.
10 years from now when Gurley has washed out of the NFL and can barely get out of bed in the morning while the NCAA is up to its neck in lawsuits, he'll be looked at one of the former "student athletes" who was swindled out of the most money.

after signing Iupati... that's scary
their defense lost some talent this year, but at the same time they had guys missing last year. if palmer stays healthy and they have peterson, that's an elite team

Assuming all of that happens, it seems like next year is going to be more lopsided in terms of one conference being better than any other year in recent memory. Is there an AFC team that rivals Arizona (with Peterson), Seattle or Green Bay? New England had maybe the worst off season of all of last year's contending teams, Denver also took a step back, and Pittsburgh hasn't done anything notable. Unless Indy gets significantly better, the AFC will be a huge joke next year.

Cromartie is the only real loss that'll be felt on defense. Williams is solid, but they've added depth at his position, and Dockett didn't contribute anything. Foote has been replaced with upside and depth, and the Cardinals can add more in the draft. Lastly, they will have a healthy Mathieu and should get Washington back.
If they get Peterson and get to keep their 1st, they'll be fucking stacked.

They also (finally) cut Lyle Seindlein. I'm still amazed that an entire fan base thought someone who didn't belong in the NFL was a pro bowl level lineman just because he's a :crylocal guy:cry.

I love what they've done on the line. Even Iupati is a huge step up in protection, despite it being his weakness. Last year's injury protection stats say he's 5x better than those Arizona trotted out last year.
He and Cooper downfield blocking is just a joy to think about. If they get Peterson and some late-round bulldozer RB, with Ellington as a Sproles type out of the backfield and in the slot, their running game could be top-3.
Give up what is needed for Pererson while keeping the 1st and use it for edge rusher, ILB, or CB, then use 4-7th picks on athletes and depth.
If it takes a 2nd/3rd for Peterson/7th, do it.
With a healthy Palmer, this team has a legit window the next two years.

He's a RB who'll be on the wrong side of 30 next season, so giving up a 2nd and 3rd for him is getting in a bidding war with yourself imo, even if it is Adrian Peterson.

He wasn't quite as bad with Alice Smith under center, but he still graded out negatively in pass-pro in 2010 and 2011, so it's not all because of Kraep.

He's league average at best, but last year the Cards were bottom 3 all year at the position, so he's a considerable upgrade, and the entire line is stronger, so it could have a ripple effect where individually good becomes collectively very good or better.
It's worth the risk for the upgrade in the running game.

Five-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Vince Wilfork most likely will not sign a free-agent contract with the Houston Texans, narrowing his choices to three teams — Indianapolis, New England and Baltimore, Sports Radio 610 has learned.
Wilfork and his wife visited Texans coaches and officials Sunday and Monday, with the Texans wooing him, but a deal could not be reached.
