You cannot rely on the government.

If you do, you will be dissapointed.

Its true of ANY government. Govt= problems=time

Obviously im not talking about the elderly, or the sick in hospitals.

Im talking about joe schmo, and anyone that heard the hurricane was coming.

If a cat 5 is coming. GET OUT.

Common sense. Everything depends on you, not the govt. Rely on yourself, not someone else.

I don't know. I'm all for a significant reduction in the role of government, BUT, in the event of a natural disaster, I expect the government to step up and own the situation.

It's certainly a service I'd willingly pay taxes for without any hesitation.

What is well said.

A cat 5 storm is coming my way, get out??

Sorry if thats too plain for you.

lol.. Ok go ahead, put your life in the govt's hands. Be that foolish.

Im saying, you shouldn't RELY on it.

Dont EXPECT. Dont just stay in your house and say, well, dem boys up in wershington will take care of me....

Take care of yourself, help yourself.

Im once again not talking about the people cant take care of themselves.

Im talking about alot of the regular people that got stranded...

T Park
09-02-2005, 07:21 PM

So is that why help was so slow to get to the people?
And by the way, do you have a pulse?

T Park
09-02-2005, 07:27 PM
the help was slow, because the governor couldnt pull the trigger on getting here.

Once again, Govt is gonna GAURANTEED fuck up. Govt is red tape, beauacracy, and bullshit.

And if you think saying the truth about GOVT in general, state, city, US is being on a high horse??

Whatever.

I still have confidence in our Government and I must have misinterpreted your post. I took it to be offensive to the people in need.

I applaud you for speaking out against the Govt.

T Park

I took it to be offensive to the people in need

I deeply apologize if you misinterpated(Sp, sorry shoot me) it that way.

Elderly, the sick, the poor.

Those people, are gonna have to depend on local, state, and federal. And also depend on good samaritans.

Thats just facts.

bottom line, evacuating 100s of thousands of people takes a looooong fucking time... get the fuck out BEFORE!

i had a friend down there.. her and her bf hitchhiked out of NO several days before the chaos started.

T Park
09-02-2005, 08:04 PM

Do it by any means necessary.

Plane, boat,hitchhike, WALK, jog, BIKE.

Stay at the Hyatt.

T Park
09-02-2005, 08:33 PM
exactly.

The mayor will put you to the front of the lineand get you out.

You even get posh fantastic surroundings.

ChumpDumper

Still waiting for the link saying the mayor determines where each bus goes.

When you can link live News reports on TV, you let me know.

JoeChalupa

I don't believe these people are so much "expecting" the government to help but more like "counted" on the government. If that makes any sense.

ChumpDumper
09-02-2005, 08:41 PM
Hey I found links saying the mayor and FEMA are using the Hyatt as a base for their operations.

Whoop de dee.

At least they got some folks out. Now the rest can't even WALK out -- even if they are able.

Tell me who's responsible for that.

timvp
09-02-2005, 08:42 PM
So they turned people around who tried to walk out? WTF, do they want them to die or what?

So they turned people around who tried to walk out? WTF, do they want them to die or what?I have no idea -- Smith said there was a checkpoint at the one way to get out of town and no one was allowed to leave on their own.

Back to the original subject, the MORAL of this story is we live in world with leaders who ponder the skin on their ass before making decisions.

A conservative believes in limited government, that rather than micromanaging the affairs of the country, it should be left to tackle the truly big things, like, um, gee, I don't know, NATURAL DISASTERS.

If it can't do that, then we might as well be anarchists and have no government above the local level.

i will say this all those unfortunates in la will sure look to the gov for a lot now. u can bet that at least 50% of the people will say they deserve millions of dollars and thats gonna suck because i can see it now everyone trying to file a lawsuit for the gov being unprepared, biased, etc. lawyers comming out from every where.

everyone loses in this the people in coastal towns and all the shit that goes back into the ocean.

at least no is still there, you can see it. how about the other cities that were hit dead on, those are gone, literally gone.

the whole city screwed up from the gov to the people, they had 5 days to get thier shit together and nothing happened. buses should have been ready to go

Shelly

Actually I think the real moral of this situation is, we have very little control over anything in this life, that life is short and very precious and it shows the reality of how easily everything we know, our way of life can come crashing down like that, and there is nothing we can do about it.

It shows how we live our lives everyday, taking it for granted not taking the time to realize how blessed we really are.I really pity the people suffering through this, two weeks ago they were living normal lives dealing with the difficulties in their everyday lives as we all do, some taking it for granted or some focusing on things in their lives they didn't have much substance, and then this hits, and their lives are shattered and will never be fully mended again. To suffer through that, watch people die, to watch your loved ones starve and go without water...well that's something that would ruin me for the rest of my life.

I think the real moral of this is, life is short and very precious and tomorrow isn't promised. We should take this time to love everyone we have in our lives now while we can, and we not focus on the negative, blind and cynical things not waste time on petty things, because well who knows one day it could be you going through this, one day it could be us all, and I would hate think I wasted all the precious time till that point on things that well in the end don't have much significance. So till then I'll enjoy my family, my friends, my loved ones, and count myself to be blessed that my life is how it is today, anyways maybe the real moral of the story is I need more sleep and am making no sense so I'm going back to bed,

Be Blessed all of you.

yeah i did.

He was exactly right too.

Alot of people on here dont watch him, and I felt his message needed to be repeated.

I also like how hes gonna track where the money is going in all the donations.

He did for 911 and found out the actors and all them who raised the money, the money wasnt going to the right places and such.

If you ask me, this whole debacle is an argument against state's rights. I think we should revoke Louisiana's immediately.
