If a buyout candidate emerges, they can still jettison Williams or Ayers with only money guaranteed this year. I guess the Nando trade exception disappears though.

Probably. Dunno what he showed to make them not even look at anyone else. He really doesn't fit on the roster personnel-wise. So I imagine he fit socially.

Wow. I wasn't expecting the Spurs to sign someone like this for the remainder of the season this early. They haven't even seen the buyout market yet.

It seems like the Spurs may have completely given up on buyout players too. They keep getting turned down by nearly all of the buyout players anyway, so maybe they've just completely given up chasing anyone.

Diaw's the only decent guy we've gotten mid-season from a buyout and he probably wouldn't have come here either if it wasn't for Tony Parker. Seems like anyone the Spurs chase, they turn them down, so they may have decided not to waste their time chasing anyone else.

I guess that's true. It could be a non-guaranteed deal, right? Might not be a big deal to waive him should someone come up in the buyout market that they're interested in.

Yes. This signing costs about 300K. They can still waive him or Ayres if an interesting free agent candidate emerges.

Idk about him, I always felt underwhelmed whenever I saw him play with OKC. Defense? Heard he was average at best, not a great 3pt shooter either but anything is possible when you're wide open...He has a good bb iq, good head on his shoulders, I'm guessing that's what they saw in him.

The 15th spot doesn't mean you're the 15 best player on the team. That spot was open, you could have saved it to try and pick up a buyout candidate. Depending on who is released, you never know, that player could crack your top 10 in the rotation.
