I never thought he'd retire before Dirk, KG or Duncan.

Really? I thought KG was offered an extension by the T-Wolves. And it would be a damn shame if Duncan retires after this year. He's still a very valuable player for the Spurs.

That's the only way the Lakers can move forward. Kobe's the monkey on the franchise back (No pun)

well kg and td are retiring after this season.

td said he'll play until hes no longer a useful. Looking what he did last night and being that hes been the only consistent spur this season, i dont think hes gone after this year. hell hes the reason we are still in the 7th seed. Until he pulls off a 2013 jason kidd or goes scoreless like garnett last season, he's not going away.

About right though. No way anyone should leave $25 million on the table to play basketball for a year. He can come back for one more final year, add to his points total, have a farewell tour like Jeter did, and go out on his terms while relieving the Lakers of this mess. They're ready to move on and rebuild. It's time. Win-win for both parties.

It will be sad when Kobe finally walks away from the game but somehow he should've done it after this season.

Ditto with Duncan and Dirk. The NBA will be a sadder place when the three retire -- three hall of fame careers which I had the pleasure of watching from start to finish.

I don't want to see Kobe go out like this, I want to see him leave the game in good spirits, it's fairly obvious after this season that Kobe has pretty much accepted the fact no amount of work ethic could save his ass. Next season will give him an opportunity to have a respectable exit, at least for his legacy. It will not be pretentious and the pressure to prove he's still one of the games elite has faded away. NBA fans will give him the appreciation he deserves and the league marketing-wise will also make sure he receives a gracious farewell.

This turned out to be a false report OP. You should know Kobe is like the Holyfield of the NBA, hes gonna stick around till they drag his ass out

That's fucking stupid. Why would any player pay 25 million to help a billion dollar franchise win a ring? He doesn't get more money, never make that back after retirement. Skip should work for free or just choke on his own cock.

He's going to go out like Apollo Creed did in Rocky 4. This guy will continue to play until he's forced to sit in a wheel chair.

The set up: Phonywood Reporter Headline

The L.A. Lakers star — who is the subject and executive producer of a new Showtime doc, 'Kobe Bryant's Muse,' airing Saturday — also opens up about the "dark days" of his sexual assault case and lessons he learned from Michael Jackson.
The delivery:You were arrested in 2003 on sexual assault charges, but the case was dropped. How difficult was that to revisit?

BRYANT Those were dark days for all of us. We all kind of dreaded that day.

Was that it? :lmao

It's stupid to retire these days. You get paid millions to not even be at work. Nash is basically a lottery winner.
