One of the truly elite franchises in the game. So many firsts....

first team to implement the shot gun formation on a regular basis (coach Red Hickey)
first team to use the Alley Oop pass (Y.A.Tittle to basketball star R.C.Owens)
first team to have three HOF to be running backs all there together (Joe Perry, Hugh McElhenny, John Henry Johnson)
first team to have a player rush for two consecutive 1000 yard seasons (Joe Perry)
first team to have a player rush for a 1000 and receive for a 1000 in a season (Roger Craig)
first team to have three HOF QB's (Tittle, Montana,Young)
first team to rush for over 3500 in a season (1948)

No team has had more great players than the Niners.

2015 will be another sub par season, then in 2016 things will start to turn around.

Only the Steelers and Cowboys compare to...5 SB wins/6 SB appearances.

All these teams have down times, that's what winning does because of the way the draft is structured.

There isn't a team in the league we can't...."you suck, hahaha!!!!!!!" But there are only a very few where we can...FIVE TIMES WORLD CHAMPION.

York fucked this team good.
Top 3 defense + 2 All Pro Linebackers. There is simply too much talent on the 2015 team to drop below 6 wins.

How do the 49ers get the next 4-5 wins? IMO it's returning to basics and pounding Kaepernick. No more nifty pocket passing.

1) 49ers return to playoffs
2) Exodus of talent in the off season
3) Coaching staff is recycled

Hard times are coming our way. (country song there somewhere) There is no reason to be optimistic. I have no problems seeing the Niners cellar dwelling in the tough NFC West. The Rams ever get a QB...............

We had a good run now it's time to rethink things and regroup, that takes time.

I look at it differently, if a team isn't a legit threat to win a division (playoffs) I'd just as soon they totally suck and get those high draft picks for a few years. What good is an 8-8 season, unless you play in the weakass NFC south.

not being forced to sign players the raider way. Also having high pick isn't that much of an advantage compared to other sports.

Actually, its just nice seeing this whole team crumble this fast, especially without getting a Super Bowl victory which they managed to choke away. Not even having dirty head hunters like Whitner and Goldson and a roided up freak like Justin Smith could help as well as having the electricity in the Superdome going out while the Ravens were cruising. Maybe next decade.

It all starts with QB. York won't allow the team to compete for the Lottery the same year his precious bullshit money pit Stadium is hosting the Super Bowl, so I doubt he'll deal Kaepernick. That means we have to find a new QB in 2016. He'll probably be ready for 2017. So yeah 3+ years sounds about right.

No idea, but it doesn't matter. Infinite_limit is my nig but I disagree about the QB position; its most important they rebuild the OL and defense. They have a couple nice young pieces but overall they're too old. I wanna see linemen drafted in the upcoming draft, with S/CB in the following draft. After that they can worry about a QB, but if they get an elite OL they can put any average passer there and he'll accel.

I agree. I wouldn't draft a QB this year unless Kaepernick is dealt [doubtful]. It's not out of the question that this could be a playoff team. If they do as you say: rebuild OL and Defense (especially CB's if Culliver leaves) we could challenge.

It's time for all those Baalke draft picks to put up or expose him. Baalke and York might be thinking our depth is ready to step in.

honestly... the quickest way to become relevant is to have a QB. by in large, look at teams that have sustained success (relative, not necessarily superbowls) in the last 6-7 years. San Diego, Denver (since manning), Indianapolis, New England, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Green Bay, New Orleans, Atlanta, NYG... they all have stability at QB. not necessarily world beaters.

you also have SF who has had sustained success by getting everything solved except QB, but thats a much more difficult formula to follow... need to completely nail everything else. offensive line, running backs, tight ends, entire defense... you have a lot of teams that are well built but their lack of qb holds them back. most recently the bengals and bills. the vikings in the pre-favre days. the chiefs with matt cassel. look at the cards without palmer

2005 - Patriots w/Brady
2006 - Steelers w/Ben
2007 - Colts w/Peyton
2008 - Giants w/Eli
2009 - Steelers w/Ben
2010 - Saints w/Brees
2011 - Packers w/Rodgers
2012 - Giants w/Eli
2013 - Ravens w/Flacco
2014 - Seahawks w/Wilson
2015 - Patriots w/Brady

1. You need Elite Quarterback
2. Almost all those teams made multiple SB's (Saints & Packers didn't)

None of those teams lost a SB and then went onto win one. Meaning their first trip was a success.

spurraider21
03-10-2015, 01:15 AM
Eli, Flacco, Wilson aren't elite. Ben is borderline. the "elite" in recent years have been manning/brady/brees/rodgers

and i'm not just talking about winning a superbowl. just as far as being consistently competitive. ben is terrific, but he's not on par with those names. he's in the same class as rivers imo.

Robz4000
03-10-2015, 01:49 AM
The problem is there's no elite QB in this draft and it doesn't look like there will be one anytime soon unless they steal Rodgers/Luck somewhere down the line. The past 15 years has been the best QB era ever; once its done teams will still win SBs, and they'll have to do it by building a team.

doesn't have to be elite imo. ryan, stafford, eli, falcco, wilson, romo, rivers, palmer aren't elite but they're all good enough. even a guy like tannehill. just has to be stable. i cant think of a team thats had the same qb for 5+ season, but have consistently struggled

Most of those teams have found success because of the players around them (elite OL, elite D, elite RB), not the actual QB themselves. You put any of them on the Niners for this upcoming season with a mediocre OL and gutted defense, I don't see them winning more than an extra game or two. Maybe Rivers could do it or Joe Baggs if they made the postseason but the rest would net them an 8-8 record at best. At this point QB should not be the first priority unless someone with high potential emerges.

Most of those teams have found success because of the players around them (elite OL, elite D, elite RB), not the actual QB themselves. They gotta just stick with someone at this point; thought they'd give Kraep but maybe not. Wouldn't be opposed to any trade involving him in the slightest, however.

The best thing that could happen to my Niners is happening. Why struggle along at 9-7/8-8/7-9? Time to start over. A few shitty years as the Seahawks lose players and get low draft picks while we get high draft picks. Simply the nature of the beast.

We need some 2-14 seasons now.

Bottom line is 5-1 in SB's. 29 teams wish they could say that.

Another York fuckup. He knows his stadium is hosting the Super Bowl so he doesn't want empty stadiums in the regular season being showcased.

It's just not realistic to think any team can be in the SB hunt every season. The draft is set up to prevent that. We had a nice run now it's time to reload, the hell with 2015/2016. We need a couple seasons to regroup.

We had a nice litte run with Harbaugh, were seriously in the hunt up until last season, now it's time to lick our wounds and regroup. We need high draft picks now not 8-8 seasons. We are not on a par with Seattle, Arizona, Green Bay, Dallas and others. I'm just being realistic and I don't play this stupid homer bullshit. When we suck we suck and we suck....right now.

That's why I think the NFL doesn't give a shit about the patriot's latest cheating, i imagine they are really worried about the talent leaving their game because of safety concerns, which I think are legit.

that being said, I hope Borland is retiring because of that and not because of the FO being fucked up.:lol

But when it comes to receivers, backs and defensive backs they are far FAR superior athletes to any soccer players. Most those guys ran track and did play some basketball. Great all around athletes and bigger, stronger and faster than soccer players.

"Bigger and stronger" = supplements and HGH. I already covered that in my original post. Put a soccer player on 6 month drug induced workouts and they will be no different

Lateral speed is the difference with those positions. It's still one thing to run fast in one direction for 5-20 seconds versus running sideways and backwards for 90 minutes.

So in just six months a soccer player could be doing this, right?

According to MaxPreps.com there are 16,047 high school football teams in America. About 750 in CA

Read more http://www.kgbanswers.com/how-many-high-school-football-teams-are-in-california/10794209#ixzz3Ud4bHBmr

So we have about 750 HS football teams in Cali. I can think of about 100 colleges. And that's just Cali.

Only one Earl Campbell because the NFL talent pool is so tiny.

If you ever saved up enough money to leave the USA, you'd realize people have different physiques overseas.

American = big upper bodies and small lower bodies.
Overseas = small upper bodies and big lower bodies.

At the gym chest, shoulders, back and arms is the easiest workouts. Legs and Cardio is not done by majority of American gym members.

1st 3 Picks: 3 Defensive projects? The safety Tartt from Samford looks like the best bet. So I would categorize the 3 picks as boom or bust. I was hoping for a safer with more Season 1 game ready, picks. Our first two picks were probably going to remain on the board, it was worth another trade down.

- No CBs? There were some avaliable that would be our best corner Day 1 of training camp :lol
- We've now drafted 3 safeties if you count Ward, in the first 2 Rounds the past 3 seasons (Reid). They must really be seconding guessing Reid's concussion issue after the retirements of Willis and Borland.
- I'm expecting some ILB's, WR and CB on Saturday

My main issues
1. HC hire was a disaster. He's a yes man. Notice all the Defensive guys calling it quits especially Justin who played under him
2. Not dealing Kaepernick
3. Connected to number 2, we signed Smith long term. "The missing piece" for a Kaepernick offense they are saying

If the 3 above were different, I would have called the Off-Season a positive step towards retooling. We drafted a bunch of projects in the Draft, so why bring back and try to compete this upcoming season on Offense? This is a 6 to 8 win roster. Another pointless reach project in the Draft next with only a Top 15 pick

RT Anthony Davis retires :wow

maybe not for good. but for at least a season

"After a few years of thought, I've decided it will be best for me to take a year or so away from the NFL," Davis said in a release. "This will be a time for me to allow my Brain and Body a chance to heal. I know many won't understand my decision, that's ok."

I hope you too have the courage to live your life how you planned it when day dreaming to yourself growing up. Your Life is Your dream and you have the power to control that dream. I'm simply doing what's best for my body as well as my mental health at this time in my life."

Davis, the No. 11 overall pick of the 2010 draft out of Rutgers, had not been attending the Niners' voluntary OTAs after an injury-wracked 2014 season. He began his NFL career by starting his first 64 games, but shoulder, hamstring, knee and ankle injuries, as well as a concussion, limited him to seven games last season.

Read this elsewhere

The team got run down - worked to the bone, long seasons with play-offs, not a fun environment with the grind mentality - you saw it in them last season, the fight had left the team, they were worn out. Borland doesn't fit this part - except that in his one season he was playing like a madman way above his size.

Add in the quacky and vapid leadership of Kid York, and zero warmth Baalke.

Add in the tiring media story last year, and the demoralizing losses to SEA.

Add in the coaching staff change = the arduous task of starting over learning a system, etc.

Add in the influence of seeing others call it quits (removes the taboo).

It all adds up to people rationalizing a time to leave.

As with all of football, IT IS NEVER JUST ONE THING, it is the compounding of many things. And this is what you get.

Thankfully the Niners can get out of Kraep's contract without too much damage. Not sure what they were thinking giving him it in the first place.

I've heard he's made a lot of progress. I gave Kap more leeway than most on here but he needs a lot more help reading defenses. Might as well see what progress Gabbert has made. My cuz was his next door neighbor, so he's still a fan like you.

From what I heard and saw during the preseason, gabbert clearly outplayed kaep. Hopefully it translates during the regular season. Gabbert has always been a preseason all star :lol

Big mistake benching Kaepernick this season. Yes yes and yes he sucks and we do need to dump his ass before 2016, but ya don't do it like this.

Agreed. This team is in the gutters now. Any chance of Kaepernick saving face on this team is gone forever now… hopefully Gabbert steps up.. cause he looked pretty shitty a couple years back.

Think about it stupid, ok? Why bring in anyone when it's real obvious the team is in shambles? There are no playoffs this year so the hell with winning a couple games if that. Ya dump Kaepernick after tHe season and start a new season with a new QB. Let him start with a clean slate not try and fix this mess, that's how ya do it.
