We already reported the rumor that Drew Goddard will write and direct the next standalone Spider-Man movie, and that it'll be called Spectacular Spider-Man and feature a Spidey who's still in high school. But there's an added wrinkle that's been getting a lot of chatter in the past day or so.
Latino Review quotes an inside source saying that a "major part" of the first Spectacular Spider-Man movie "will involve Spider- Man fighting Iron Man and then trying to pass the 'audition' to join the Avengers." The Sinister Six will be coming together throughout that movie, and might only become a fully-fledged supervillain team by the end of the film. Forbes speculates that that huge Marvel announcement that Robert Downey Jr. recently teased might just be the official confirmation that Iron Man will be the main antagonist in Spectacular Spider-Man. As with all unsourced rumors, though, take this with many grains of salt.

That makes sense for Sony. Paying RDJ his $50 million pretty much guarantees a profitable movie. A little surprised Marvel would farm him out though.

He's kinda got a point. At this point Marvel is recycling good stuff so we just kinda go with it. The only GREAT comic book movies so far have been Batman Begins and Dark Knight. Guardians was awesome cause it did break away. As for more Spiderman, the ONLY way people are still excited about Spiderman is cause he's joining the Avengers. Otherwise, gtfo

Recycling?
What :lmao
Yeah because unlike DC with Batman and Superman, Marvel has been recycling with IM, Dr Strange, GOTG, BP, Captain Marvel, the Inhumans, etc

not out yet, buddy :) And do you think any of those will be some kinda breakthroughs? They'll be the exact same structure as the rest except with [insert superhero here]. And Guardians is an exception, that's why I brought it up. You've established you're a blind fanboy so I don't know why I'm putting up an effort.
I wanna know what you thought about this vid cause they're making painful points about the very foundation of Marvel movies even though it's supposed to just be about Age of Ultron

Gotta love lefty pretending to go along with it while ignoring the fact that they're not exactly stretching with their criticisms in those vids. Nobody cares more about the "MCU" than you, faggot

This will be extremely surprising considering they just hired Tom Rothman to run the studio and he is a well documented penny pincher and anti-super hero. (he did everything possible to undermine X-Men when he was running Fox.))

UPDATE: Borys Kit of The Hollywood Reporter has tweeted that Butterfield may not have landed the role... yet. Butterfield, along with a few others, were expected to test for Spider-Man this week, but as far as he knows, there is no offer on the table. However, Kit does confirm that many are rooting for Asa to eventually land the coveted role. Justin Kroll ofVariety corroborated Kit's information and also tweeted that Butterfield has tested, but Marvel is still in the process of testing other actors. He also adds that while Asa is very high on the list, the studio is also very fond of Tom Holland.
