I would probably recommend buying a mixer so you can input multiple mics and the music at once. You may or may not be able to use it with your current amp.

its a old amp 25yrs old i think its 2.1 system yamaha

im certain those analogue mixers have outputs for red and white cables

anyway if i do buy a mixer, does that mean theres no use for a equalizer machine? (it came with the yamaha amplifier)

im looking at gettina yamaha mg10xu model for around 300 down here, has what i need...means i dont need the equalizer machine

If you want the best sound you would use that mixer and a graphic EQ for the full mix coming out of the mixer going into the amp. You can get away with just using the mixer going straight into the amp. A lot of people do -- but if you already have the graphic EQ, I'd use it.

Are you just using this at home or are you trying to start a business with this?

its a home karaoke setup

yeh i have a existing graphic equalizer...cause if i bought the new mixer, do i continue to use it or throw it out

the new mixer has prefix fx, whether its better then the graphic equalizer i dont know, but thats the difference between going out buying a avg mixer around t he 150-300mark or buying a entry level mixer for under 100bucks if i dont need the fx prefixes...

That mixer has EQ for each channel if needed. You can use the high pass filter button on each of the vocal channels so stuff like low frequency mic handling noises are cut down. Then use the graphic EQ for the mix coming out of the mixer before it goes into the amp. That's effective for stuff like getting rid of feedback in specific frequency ranges and shaping the sound of the entire mix to the room. If you set up the graphic EQ right, you usually won't have to do much with the EQ knobs on the mixer.

so do i buy the mixer with prefix fx
or
buy a entry level mixer under 100bucks no prefixes

and have either hooked up to the existing Equalizer...
man trying to save money on whether i really need a 300buck mixer....model in question is the yamaha mg10xu

Well I don't know exactly what you mean by prefix fx.

Usually fx means effects like reverb and echo; that mixer does have them and that's worth the cost once you learn how to use them IMO.

the mg10 normal model doesnt have fx prefixes...which is about 220bucks

or should i just buy a entry level for under 100 to use with my current equipment amplifier + equalizer yamaha ge-30 10 band per channel...?

thats a saving of around 100-200bucks...

I'd probably spring for something like the mg10xu if you can swing it. If you're really into it, you'll want something with the effects. There are some less expensive mixers with effects out there like Behringer. I don't know what's available to you.

ended up gettin the mg06xu instead for 175...

now back to the tablets...10.1 screens HD...dont care about specs..should i get a use one on ebay or someshit for under 100 bucks piece? its main use is to select karaoke songs or remote controller, wont be installing any other shit on it...need it to be big cause old folks hate are not tech savy...

ok so i got the system all setup, i didnt buy a new tablet...waiting for june for EOFY sales

anyway does anyone have a htpc/hdd sitting next to their home theatre setup, where the bass/speakers vibration interferes with the hdd that sometimes when its buffering the files, it misplays a tune of that sound file?

ChumpDumper
04-04-2015, 03:18 PM
Damn, that's some serious vibration.

My htpc is in one of those Antec Sonata cases that cuts down on that stuff. You might be able to use some rubber grommets under your hard drive mounts if there is room.

Or put a mat underneath the case, move the speakers, etc.

yeh im looking a rubber mat, or use some old mouse pad i have lying around...

vibrating hdd long term fcks up the plates inside

anyway whats a good software to clone the hard drive? im missing about 2 months of new updates and it was already max songlist out of the box, currently transferring porno from 4tb hdd to smaller backup hdds....cbf wasting more money on this system...

Clonezilla should do the trick: http://clonezilla.org/

Though you should seriously think about setting up a RAID configuration: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAID
