Tim Duncan goes without a made field goal today (0-8 FG) for the first game in his career.

That's 1544 NBA games (including playoffs), 1672 total games if you include the 128 games he played in college.

Most consecutive games played with a made FG:
1.) Duncan (1310) (1544 including playoffs)
2.) Hakeem (1075)
3.) Jordan (1072)
Per ESPN.

Regular Season: MJ:1072, Shaq:862, LeBron: 788, Kobe:685, Magic:182
Counting Playoffs: MJ:1251,Shaq:1020, LeBron: 946, Kobe:808, Magic:215

"For comparison, LeBron has one game where he didn't score an FG, back in his second NBA season. Shaq had two -- he got injured in one. Kobe has had 23, the majority of them in his rookie season, but several others sprinkled along the way."

"Since I think this is a good opportunity to drop some Tim Duncan statistical ridiculousness, Timmy currently has on his career 25,708 points, 14,473 rebounds, 3992 assists, and 2895 blocks (also 964 steals for good measure). Only Kareem has over 25k points, 15k rebounds, 4k assists and 3k blocks. Just 4 other players have over 25k points and 15k rebounds: Kareem, Wilt, Moses Malone and Elvin Hayes.

But what's more impressive is his consistency. Duncan has 13 seasons with at least 1,000 points, 700 rebounds, and 100 blocks, tied for the most of any player with Hakeem, then Robert Parish has 11 and the next closest players have 9. And Timmy's on pace to hit those numbers again this year.

What might be the most impressive example of consistency, though, is that Timmy has had at least a 21.0 PER inevery season of his career meaning he has recorded a PER of 21 or higher in 18 straight seasons. More than Kareem (17) Shaq (16) Karl Malone (15) and John Stockton (15). He also is tied for the most total seasons with a 22 PER and a 23 PER respectively. Speaking of this, only 26 players in league history (including Timmy) have a career PER of over 22.0, yet Duncan has recorded a 22.0 PER or higher in 16 total seasons."

His first 0 field goal game in over One Thousand, Six Hundred and Seventy Two games since he's been observed on a statistical level.

Fucking Living LEGEND.
I am beyond honored to be a fan of the Spurs and having had the privilege of watching his entire career.

Beyond graced to see David Robinson get the ring he so well deserved.
Beyond graced to know exactly what Duncan was in his first playoffs against Utah and Malone, who vexed the Spurs for years and guarded Robinson with his low hand slaps like no other and showed him and them he was the Real Deal and has proved it game after game, year after year.

Over a decade and a half of familiarity and you start thinking of him and the team like family...

I will die a little death when he hangs them up.

So weird how a potentially negative stat really just shows how dominant and consistent Duncan has been for so long.

Great post, currently top 5 All-Time, could see him finishing as high as #2/3 if he gets #6 as a 1a/b option.

Didn't look like it bothered TD very much either. How is one of the most consistently dominate players able to put up such staggering numbers when he doesn't even care about them?

Because he is that good

Because he is that good

exactly could've played 40 a night or cried about touches but instead takes pay cuts to give roster depth and takes limited mins to develop that depth.
