I think you're right. And ten years is the perfect time span because that's just about when the classic Spurs vs Lakers wars of the 00's ended. (Yeah, I know we met in the 08 conf. finals but it wasn't the same.)

Would love another LBJ vs the Spurs Finals. The transcendent player usually loses in the long run to the transcendent team. (Ask Wilt about the Celtics).

I haven't seen this kind of intensity out of the Spurs in a while. I don't watch the Cavs much but the same can probably be said of them.

We like the Lebron rivalry bc it's one we've mostly won. Kobe got us good a few too many times in the early 2000s. Yes we have 2003, but that's Lebron's 2013.

We also swept Kobe and Shaq in 99

Sure but who has been dominating most of the last 10 years?? It has been lebrons and Spurs league. 5 championships and and 6 finals between the 2 of them.

After the game last night I don't see how they couldn't. That was supremely entertaining basketball. It's a total clash of styles. Team vs. Hero-ball.

To be fair both teams played hero ball last night. We are not going to win a series playing that way. I think Pop was bluffing last night and also baiting Cavs to go hero all.

If these 2 teams meet the winner will be the team who plays more team ball. Both teams are capable.

I honestly don't think the Spurs played hero ball at all. They moved the ball and had 28 assists to Clevelands 19. I felt like I was just watching Irving dribble non-stop and chucking shots. I was actually really pleased with the Spurs ball movement and team play.

It sure seems to be. Even Chuck decided to travel to San Antonio to watch/comment on this game in person, and we know how he feels about SA. :lol Pretty much all of the announcers were giddy as hell last night and no one seemed to have a preference as to which team they were rooting for. They had nothing but good things to say about both teams which is pretty rare, imo. They love the match-ups between Kawhi and LeBron + Parker and Irving. They were making me laugh all night. They also kept saying that the rivalry reminded them of "old times." Everyone was definitely having a blast. It was very enjoyable to watch and listen to it all, tbh.

2-1 is not "ownership," especially when the Spurs have had stacked teams each time while LeBron's basically been a one-man team.

They blew that themselves, they swept him in 07 and beat his team 4-1 last year and overall their record is pretty good otherwise. I would say his 7 game victory in 013 was legit but the Spurs gave them that title, otherwise they do seem to OWN him. The other Finals they are 8-1 vs, his team.

Enjoyable to watch until the end of regulation when the Spurs blew a game they had, then it was all down hill from there :( Great game but I hated the end, they blew that one and had no business losing it.

Then we could say that about every single championship a team has won? How is that so if you can explain?

Love the Hero vs Team analogy for the way a Finals would play out. If Lebron and Kyrie haven't already lost Love they have time to right their ship. We can only hope we are there because we got this if given the chance. Would be fvckin' heaven! :pimpslap

I was just happy to see them actually competing with some intensity and passion. Their numerous horrid losses and choke jobs this season made me realize what I really missed about my Spurs. Not just winning games (not saying that is not important, lol) ... but watching them bounce back from any obstacles that may try to stand in their way. They truly are "The Good Guys," imo. :king

I would say last two finals would put it at two. I actually think the Mavs vs. Spurs was the best rivalry for the past 15 years in the NBA. And I am not saying this because I am a Spurs fan. These teams despise each other and they go no holds bar when they play each other.

No other rivalry lasted this long and had this much intensity during that span.

And seconds away from being 4-12 and 3 finals losses to the Spurs. Spurs are to Lebron as the Celtics were to Jordan.

But remember, the Bulls dominated the Pistons the last two times they played them in the playoffs. Jordan never dominated a Healthy Bird Celtics team. Jordan himself even said he was glad the day Bird retired because he was the monkey on their back for many a year.

It's pretty amazing to think that the Spurs have a winning record over Lebron and Dirk while being tied with Kobe in the past 15 years. If the Spurs aren't the best team of the past 15 years then I don't know what. Lebron could be sitting on at least 4 rings by now if not for the Spurs.
