'Eh, back in the day I bought a Radeon 8500 at launch based on beast specs that got everyone's panties wet at the time. I would have been better off with a GeForce3 Ti500 instead since that mostly outperformed the 8500 in actual gameplay. Moral of the story is wait for the gaming benchmarks.

Agree, but given how strong the 290x has been compared to the 980, I don't think it's unrealistic to assume that AMD is going to hold the GPU crown very soon.
