No timetable for his return. Could be minor, but any knee surgery is no joke tbh.

What is the deal with the Thunder this year? It's like they've become the Blazers all of sudden. Not good.

OKC had several years of no injuries at all so they've built up some bad karma that is now taking it's toll.

Blazers on the other hand, have apparently built their stadium over an Indian burial ground.

Well, Poltergeist reboot is happening this year (I think).

I think this is a huge loss for them.

Ibaka has legitimately become one of the best defenders in the league. He used to just get overrated on that end due to his flashy blocks, but over the past couple of years he's really made strides and has become fantastic defensively. OKC has good depth when it comes to bigs, but they'll REALLY miss his defense. Kanter sucks defensively. McGary is a rookie and is slow as shit. Collison has gotten up there in age and isn't as good of a defender as he used to be. Adams is solid defensively, but nothing special and he's foul-prone.

It'll also affect them offensively. Ibaka has become one of the best big man shooters in the league and is a legitimate threat from 3. None of their other bigs are remotely as good when it comes to shooting and spacing the floor, so this will make things harder on Westbrook/KD when it comes to getting in the paint.

If he's out for a long time, there's no way they get any higher than 8th, and no way they beat GS.

Time to concede the 8th spot to the Pelicans. That will do them good in the long run. Even though it's not his fault, it will give management an excuse to replace Brooks.

Side note: You have to wonder if Ibaka coming back so soon last year had any role to play in this. I realize it's a calf vs knee, but sometimes when you're injured you use other body parts to compensate. Either way, I think it's readily apparent that OKC doesn't take care of their players like they should.

Hmm...kind of sucks. I really want to see a healthy OKC team as an 8th seed against the Warriors.

If Abaka misses extended time they'll miss the post-season as well, and we'll new New Orleans get clobbered by the Dubs.

Non-issue. They have Kanter to keep them afloat, and they are simply doing this now so he will be ready for the postseason.

Slight chance this knocks them out of the 8-seed, but I doubt it.

OKC plays too hard. I will credit our guys, they know when to turn it on, and when to leave something in the tank. It's frustrating at times, but the Cavs game showed we can turn it on, it's still there, th eonly team that really worries me is Houston, but James Harden is no Kyrie Irving, and he has defensive lapses.

His style of shot blocking is so reliant on his jumping ability coming from the weak side. It's only a matter of time for the knees to concede. Helluva player and helluva blow to OKC.
This is one weird season and there are still about 20 games to go.

Makes 0 sense. Durant will be back within two weeks and they have a home heavy schedule and a game lead over the Pelicans.

Disagree on his style of play being a cause for his injuries , DeAndre Jordan is the same type (not as good) of defender. Jordan has played over 330 straight games (playoffs included) he probably relies even more on his athleticism and has held up extremely well in even more minutes per game than Ibaka plays.

Durant returns later this week and the combination of Adams and Kanter should keep them afloat at the 8-seed, especially with the Pelicans having a touch schedule remaining. They'll still make the playoffs. It's all about their health come playoff time.

I understand they probably can/will still make the playoffs, but will they go anywhere once they get there? They will face GS in the first round, with their roster having two key players returning from injury and both possibly not in game shape. Top it off, Westbrook will be exhausted trying to keep them afloat for the next 2-3 weeks. As explosive/relentless as he is, he's an injury waiting to happen. So you risk the long term health of your team for an 8th seed and a first round exit?

Yes, Durant has one year left after this season. Punting one of the two remaining playoff runs to "preserve" long term health is extremely conservative. They aren't likely to beat OKC but if they get healthy within the final month there have an outside chance of knocking off GSW.

After that, they would be playing the winner of the Grizzlies-Mavs series that's a more favorable match up.

OKC was going to get beat down out by the Warriors if they limped into the playoffs unless the Thunder miraculously got everyone healthy and clicking. Now the Warriors are going to blow them out of the water once they meet.

Spurs can't rely on OKC to take out the Warriors. If they end up on the Warrior's side of the bracket they are going to have to do it themselves.

Personally I think Westbrook is toughest guy for us to guard (tougher than bron) and serge obviously causes problems. I actually think we matchup decently on curry and Thompson. Plus I wouldn't be surprised if the fucken mavs keep slipping maybe even to 8

Noone can guard durant. Not even kawhi. But kawhi can guard westbrook. We just need to shut one down to win. We always let durant get his because we know we can't stop him.
Matchup toughness for the spurs is durant >lebron > westbrook in that order.

Already got the payback. Would rather have OKC in the playoffs than NOP. Yes, Davis is unbelievable but their perimeter D will get torched. 5 game series at most. If OKC's healthy, would be much more competitive though very unlikely Thunder win it.

I dont think this is a fluke season, extended all-star break leads to more games in a finite amount of time, many 4 games in 5 night stretches. This doesnt apply to Paul George or KD obviously.
Just make the season 60 games, but of course they won't and if they do anything they'll make the season + playoffs extended.
