For a big man he is insanely clutch. I was just talking about this at work the other day and they just thought and said your right. He hits so many big shots late its crazy... Usually its a guard hitting those shots but he does it as a big man.

The shot he made that made me jump out of me seat the highest was his crazy clutch shot from the top of the key over shaq, right before the Fisher .4 shot.

I think as a sports fan, that's the biggest roller coaster high/low moment I've ever been emotionally vested in

I remember being at that game (opposite baseline) and running around hi-fiving people. When Fisher hit his shot, a lot of us weren't even in our same seat. What's sad for the big 3 is that the greatest shots of their careers won't be remembered like they should:

Tim: Fade-away over Shaq in 2004 to take the lead with 0.4
Tony: Step-back 3 over Lebron to tie Game 6 of the Finals (followed up by a steal and go-ahead bucket)
Manu: Go-ahead 3-pointer in G7 to cap huge rally in the game and series (loudest I've ever heard a Spurs arena)

All 3 of those shots could have been remembered as Championship-defining moments, but were lost in the memories of most because of what happened afterwards. But all the great ones have those moments.

I honestly still think Westbrook is going to get a piece every time I watch that clip. Really don't understand how he missed both times.

It seems like he almost had it and after he didnt get it, he hesitates for a moment (which is very unlike him) and then runs back just as Duncan is shooting, that brief hesitation made all the difference.

Both his and Fish's were lucky ass shots. Literally went from jumping up and down around the house to punching walls/instant depression. I still think that the dumbass scorekeeper started the clock late.

Outside of the dark years of 2001 and 2002 with some of the shittiest perimeter players a contending team has ever utilized, can't complain about the results of the team in Tim's prime, even including the heartbreaking 0.4, tbh..

The only series that still bothers me is the 2006 Mavs series..I used to blame it on Manu's foul, but looking back at it, the Spurs would have easily won the series if they had a legit 3rd guy next to Duncan and Ginobili, tbh..

He did, they timed it to be 1 second from time of catch to release, but the refs actually start the clock, not the scorekeeper

That and Duncan's shot passed through the net at 0.8, so you see the reaction time element on both sides.

Agreed, but we still got hosed, 1>0.8

I ran up and down the stairs and called my friend on the phone and said we did it!! I said this is Tims Jordan or Bird defining shot!!! This is legendary here. I get off the phone and sit down and say no way in hell that counted! I STILL remember AL Michaels tone as it went through and then empty feeling like I have to go to bed right now to get this night over with...

Actually, we had a good 3rd option that year:

2006 Regular Season:

Parker: 18.9 PPG / 5.8 APG / 3.3 RPG
Duncan: 18.6 PPG / 3.2 APG / 11.0 RPG
Ginobili: 15.1 PPG / 3.6 APG / 3.5 RPG

2006 Playoffs:

Duncan: 25.8 PPG / 3.3 APG / 10.5 RPG
Parker: 21.1 PPG / 3.8 APG / 3.6 RPG
Ginobili: 18.4 PPG / 3.0 APG / 4.5 RPG

What were the efficiency and offensive/defensive +/- or rating numbers?

I think the FO messed up by not surrounding him with better players during his peak.

Arcadian

This is the real reason why Duncan is in the top-tier of players in all history: he is a clutch shooter! From anywhere on the court! He has made game winning shots from all possible distances: 3, long 2, short 2, even tip-ins. He's just a complete player.

I think the FO messed up by not surrounding him with better players during his peak.

But at the same time, that really forces people to see how great he was. When stars team with other stars (think LeBron), people use that as an argument against them. He carried teams and still won titles.
