View Full Version : Jason Williams vs Tony Parker...

I'm having an arguement with somebody on another board about this goon. This guy simply states that Jason Williams is gonna excel in Miami. I say he isn't because he makes stupid plays.

I personally don't think Williams is gonna make much of a difference in Miami. Considering that he would chafe Hubies/Fratellos ass when he'd run the fast break and just clank up a brick from 3 point range.

What are your thoughts?

First of all, the guy doesn't have a winning attitude to begin with. Along that same lines, I think the whole team chemistry is kind of iffy (with him and A Walker). Second, the guy always seems to make bad decisions on the floor. Third, he's white. j/k.

Well, Paker commited more turnovers last year so I guess he has the advantage in the "stupid plays" department.

The TO figures cant be analysed alone. Without knowing how many points the player makes (1 TO per each 10 points is not bad), how many assists (for point guards 2 assists per 1 TO is ok, 3:1 is better), how many steals has (the player intercepts the ball which counts as a steal but the ball goes out of bounds which count as TO - so 1 steal per TO is great), how many blocks...

You forget Tony Parker started more games than Williams.

Jason Williams has improved a lot more than people think. He has a nice assist to turnover ratio and makes far less bonehead plays than he used to.

But I still like Tony Parker in the Spurs system.

Kori is correct, J-Will really turned it around under Hubie.

The only craziness in his game that is left is the pullup 3's.

and he doesn't seem to respect/accept any system he plays for. That's a huge minus for him.

If you have an option to pick Tony or Jason, go ahead and pick Tony.

I know that Tony > JWill, but I'm just saying.

How about posting their head to head numbers. You can start with the 2003 playoffs where Parker kicked Williams' ass to th bench and go from there every matchup since. Doubt you'll put those numbers up, eh.

When Williams changes his ways, then let's compare J-Won't with Parker.

Watson closed out Grizzlies games.

The Artest Factor

This is a close one. Both players have such major flaws. Parker, with his poor distribution, poor defense, poor shooting, poor rebounding, and the fact that he disappears in big games. Jason Williams with his oor shot selection, poor attitude, and ocassionally risky passing.

I'd go with Jason Williams. He just brings more to the table than "One-Trick Pony" Parker.

I'd go with Jason Williams. He just brings more to the table than "One-Trick Pony" Parker. So does Steve Francis, but he wouldn't work in the Spurs' system either.

Make all the meaningless head-to-head comparisons you want. Whatever you may say about Parker, Bowen, or any other Spur....the rings are the only measure that matters. In fact, the rings are what bring you and every other troll to the board. Funny, huh?

Best I can tell, you argue stats mostly because your team hasn't yet accomplished anything that matters? I suppose if you have to hold onto something...

Jason was so difficult to defend one-on-one, the Lakers had to change their entire defensive strategy in order to swing momentum back their way...

No wait, that wasn't Jason, that was Tony Parker.

The Lakers changed their strategy with JWill. They saw how he played and figured he's best left unguarded.

I was thinking Jason Williams of the Grizzlies.

I know Jason has issues and I don't trust him to play for us.
Even so, there is something in me believes Jay has great potential. For that reason, I can't help but root for him.

With proper guidance and, most importantly, an attitude adjustment, Jason has the talent necessary to excel.

I really think being coached by Pop would do Jason a world of good.

But the Spurs don't need a project. Our roster is full of already great guys, which is as I would have it. = )

Rarely do I disagree with the Angel, but here I will have to. Jason Williams will get you more highlights but TP will get you more wins. Wigga Chocolate will dazzle you until you get to crunch time, when that happens those and-1, professa, "im gettin my trailer park ass on tv" passes end up in the first row and he drops more bricks than Joe Pesci in "Home Alone". No thanks.
