Good article. Obviously a lot easier said than done but I believe Danny Green would be our best bet slowing down Harden in a potential playoff series. As great a defender as Kawhi is, his tendency to reach and his long arms actually can become a hindrance when guarding against Harden's drives, which can result in foul trouble. Also, Green has better lateral mobility to prevent Harden blowing by him.

Don't have to do much to guard playoff Harden, just show up to the game, tbh:lol..

I wouldn't even defend harden in the playoffs, tbh. One of the worst playoff performers I can remember.

The key to stopping Harden is the playoffs.

instead of reaching in...how about spreading arms out or puttin arms up is enough to avoid getting into contact with him when he drives into ur body looking for a cheap bail out foul call...

is it possible when harden drives into ur body, u either stand ur ground looking for a charge call, or bending backwards like neo in the matrix dodging bullets, then seeing harden going face first into the ground

Portland relentlessly attacked Harden on the defensive end in last year's playoffs.

do u think green can attack harden on the defensive end?...green needs an inside game or continue to drive and look for cheap calls

One point is not to react to his dribble moves on isolation plays. He doesn't really go anywhere with them but defenders often jump at them. Stand there and just challenge the inevitable jumpshot, tbh

Kawhi can during switches, but I expect McFail to hide Harden on Green. However, Harden will still have to fight through a ton of screens just to make sure that Green isn't left wide open.

Harden's type of game hasn't really translated too well in the playoffs because of his over-reliance on drawing fouls. As much as the NBA wants to say that games are officiated the same in the playoffs as in the regular season, it simply isn't true. Playoff games are much rougher, and what would normally be in a foul in the regular season may no longer be a foul in the playoffs. Of course, unless you are the Lakers in the fourth quarter of an elimination game, then you can expect 20+ free throws, but for every other team, the game plan has to be more than to draw the foul and go to the line.

If you really want to stop James Harden, the Rockets have to acquire Kobe.

Trying to be clever ...but that's just dumb...
how is he gonna "stop Harden" from the trainer's table?
That would work for what 20 games?

He did but he also had Durant, Westbrook and a on fire Ibaka. HE has very little of that kind of help in Houston.

I'd say don't worry about stopping him just let him get his and shit down everyone else

Portland was pretty successful with that...except for the fact the Dwight Howard got his.

Honestly, I think he'll be ok in the post season. Not amazing, but not putrid either.
