I think more like kawhi is getting into rhythm for the playoffs. He hasn't played a lot of games this year and he has low minutes per game. He is still fresh this year. And even then, he is keeping this team fresh too.

If I'm not mistaken, Kawhi will be a restricted free agent, meaning he can sign an offer sheet from other teams, but the Spurs can match that offer. I don't know the specific details of the rule, but I believe if the offer is accepted, the player's current team has 3 days to match. During this 3-day period, the pursuing team's money is tied up in this offer. Even though 3 days isn't that long, no one wants to tie up their money on restricted free agents they know they can't get.

Personally, I don't think it will even get to that, the Spurs will have a max deal on the table as soon as they are able to.

If I were a team that had free agent money to throw around, there are probably guys I'd rather give a max offer to than Kawhi. If I'm a team that already has him, and has been to the finals twice in a row with him starting, my priorities are a little different.

Noel and Kawhi would be a nice defensive duo, but I doubt Kawhi has any interest in playing for them, especially for less than max. Only way Philly is attracting any talent is by overpaying.
