Been working out the last few months making sure I'm in tip toe condition for our Soccer league..Don't want to disappoint my teammates..

What do you think is the perfect bodyfat % of an athlete? or acceptable?

mine is somewhere around 12% I played division 1 sports in college and it was around 9% then.

For a pro athlete im not sure. Parkers is near 30% and he's got a $45 million contract so maybe the higher the better.

Being in tip toe condition is important, especially for hunters who have to sneak upon their prey.

:lol Pro athletes have all different types of BF%'s. You have to narrow it down.

Soccer players generally have the lowest because of the amount of running they do, while not needing much muscle to compete at a high level. There are lots of football players with BF%'s over 25%. If you're talking NBA specifically, it's likely between 4-12%, with a few players (like old Shaq, Z-Bo, Boogie, Marc Gasol, Big Baby, etc.) who are obviously much higher, likely in the high teens to over 20%.

Does not make a bit of difference.
If you can do 2 miles in a row in 12 minutes you should be in rec. shape. You should get in better shape during the season.

Forget the body fat, it's about performance. BTW if you can accomplish this starting off, you won't have a high % body fat.
As far as your touch on the ball, that's up to you. That's much more difficult than being in proper shape, as skill is involved.

you mean me? i don't know what my fat % is, i answered as to what the ideal is for a soccer player. as for me, i've always been a small athletic freak, for a white guy, but i've lost weight like two years ago because i wanted to see if my body could have a true six pack. at one point i had 59kg*178cm but i was ripped as fuck, it was at a point where i really had 0 fat, i've heard the normal for a human without using PED is around 6%, i wouldn't be surprised if i was that. Last year i had a bad knee for a year and couldn't workout so i lost pretty much all my muscular tone, and it's though to get it back now, since i use up way more energy than i am able to eat. Don't know, i've always had a very strong metabolism. In short, right now i'm like 65kg and eating like crazy. If i get to 70kg and keep the six pack, i'll be very happy.

Just get around 10-12%, OP..

Anything less than that requires too much dedication for something you aren't getting paid to do, tbh:lol..

As long as you aren't above 15%, FYI..

Ideal for athlete is roughly 5-10%. I'm probably sitting at 14% right now (6'1" 168 lbs), currently cutting.

Most athletes are not 2% body fat, that would be dangerous and ineffective.

Not to mention the NBA is full of players that aren't in "optimal" shape(Ray Felton, Jared Sullinger, Tony Parker earlier in the year, Chandler Parsons at the start of the year, etc), along with the players that naturally carry excess weight on their frame(Diaw, Kyle Lowry, Paul Pierce, etc)..

Cardiovascular endurance is essential in basketball, but being in aesthetic shape isn't necessary..

Im not even sure survival is possible under 4% - at that percentage your internal organs would have no cushion, and I would assume you would have a really hard time with nutrient absorption. But carry on retards.

Do me a favor - go to a bodybuilding competition and ask the contestants their composition. See how many tell you under 4. Probably, not many. Then ask the tools how long they walk around under 7% body fat and I bet you a hundred dollars they tell you not too damn long.

Cool, how does that work? I'm not looking for a detailed biological explanation, but I have no concept of how gripping that device could lead to an accurate measurement of body fat %! It might as well be magic to me, lol.

I've seen tests where they put clamps at specific points in your body. The idea seems to be that the more skin the clamps can grab, the higher you BF is. Eye tests from people that know their shit can give you a decent range too. Basically you can be skinny and have a somewhat high BF...I was 5'11'' 165-170 lbs at one point, was in the best shape of my life (lifting lightly and doing cardio) and was given a 16-18% BF estimate. :lol

Anything lower takes major dedication imo, an active lifestyle alone won't get it done.

Nah, I wouldn't call it terrible like I said I was working out and in good shape. People just don't realize how much it takes to get into the low teens. It's not just about being skinny but you have to have some noticeable muscle on you too tbh.

haha- sorry, should have indicated sarcasm more clearly (i thought my fat ronaldo 110% or "bro- do you even lift?" would suffice). *disclaimer* anything under 10% is extremely unhealthy. take it from this med student. i was just responding to be facetious given the misplaced thread :)
