Barnes was a pretty good recruiter but this year's team genuinely looked poorly coached -- at least on offense and in transition.

With that talent and no sweet 16 appearances in the last 7 years, he's lucky to have made it this far

Fucking finally. They sure let these coaches keep getting g those checks at Texas, don't they. Hell, David McWilliams just got off the payroll.

This was long overdue. Rick Barnes and Mack Brown had the cushiest jobs in the country and produced 1 frigging Championship between them. They did less with more and got away with it for years. So glad the basketball program will now have some hope. #underachieverssuck

Shaka Smart and Gregg Marshall are interested

Hip Hip Hooray............Ding Dong the Witch is dead......It is about flipping time.

I hope we get Marshall. If not, the rump Shaka would be a great consolation prize.

Now, speaking of Barnes, I know he ticked me off with his coaching style, but he was a great recruiter.......and I know the job is beneath him, but I would love for him to head south 3 hours and take over as the head coach for TAMU-CC. I believe he could lift us to the top of the Southland for years to come.

I don't think we're getting Shaka or Marshall. They're waiting for blueblood programs imo. Texas most certainly is not that (in basketball).

That's not really what's being reported. We will see.

I'll wait for Patterson to fuck it up.

So is Barnes getting paid the 1.5million buyout?

Great. UTSA should fire there's as well and pick Barnes up. Why the hell not?? That program has needed someone with some notoriety and that could be a potential game changer perhaps. Football has Coker and bb would have Barnes. Do it!!!

Barnes would not take that job. He will much better options if he wants them. The facilities situation at UTSA for basketball is in an untenable situation.
