From an individual player standpoint, he's the final piece of the puzzle for the attempt to make an improbable playoff run without HCA, tbh..

Everybody else looks good, the ball is moving well, the defense is where we expect it to be, etc..the 3rd quarters are still a work in progress, though:lol..

The backup PG is still a major problem, though, as well as the outside shooting..Mills can kill 2 birds with 1 stone..he's getting several open looks per game, but his jump shot is non-existent..

In the past 8 games, his eFG% is an atrocious 32%:(

He's got to get his shot going by the playoffs.

we don't have a backup PG which is worrysome

CoJonless is well, he has no cojones

and Aussie Turd is complete rubbish

Eviturd is our main backup PG but hes a 38 year old has been. It's pretty worrysome. Hopefully one of these guys can find his game. otherwise, we are fighting an uphill battle

He'll find his mojo... no doubt he's a baller... I would be more worried if his offense dictates his intensity on defense, but he's been playing really well on the other end (within his limitations). Very active, getting on passing lanes, etc...

If he finds his shot, watch out NBA...

they're open looks. They will start falling tbh. He's just taking the IcyHot moniker for this season.

He's got 9 more games to right the ship. Hopefully its enough time

Yeah I feel like they have to start falling eventually. He's getting just as many good looks as he did last year. He's at least been contributing defensively...he brings a lot of energy when he's out there.

His confidence is down, that's no secret. His head goes down during dead balls after he misses a shot.

Yeah, the important thing is Patty is still hustling and playing within the system. It's just amazing how he seemed to never miss last season and now it's the complete opposite. The shoulder injury is the main factor of course, but he even seemed fine when he came back from his injury at the start of the year.

Will they start falling, though?

This isn't like when Danny is in an IcyHot stretch, this is a player that just had shoulder surgery in the off-season, tbh..

His intensity on D is fine, but playing 1-way players doesn't work in today's league..the Spurs' outside shooting outside of Green and Belinelli is concerning, Mills' making 3s is essential, especially when Parker is struggling, too..

Mills was streaky as shit before his injury. He was also prone to chucking.

We'll see... even for pace and spacing purposes alone, I rather have him out there than Cojo... my main concern going into the playoffs is the Blazers... I read Kawhi has matchup problems with them...

It looks to be more mental than injury related tbh. He had a good shooting night against the Thunder.

Just for a rough guide, Patty shot 46.6% from three in January, 26.2% in February, 37.2% in March. He is 10-31 (32.3%) in his last 10 games for another arbitrary cutoff. 35.3% for the season.

He is another player who needs to improve on offense to get the Spurs back to championship level. Parker had been horrendous on offense and is getting back to at least being dangerous enough to let the team offense click.

I had read somewhere (maybe some Sloan Conference report?) that point guard is the least important defensive position. If that's true, Parker/Mills being minus defenders isn't the end of the world. The Spurs haven't had even above-average defensive play from the point guard position in a long time and have been contenders anyway. So Mills being a 1-way player as Harlem said is less damaging than Belinelli, who tends to guard much more dangerous players.

All of his clean looks are on target, just getting unlucky bounces. I counted two tonight that touched every part of the rim but didnt fall through. Those will fall eventually.

You're correct that most analysis says PG defense is largely low-impact, but I actually meant that Mills is currently a 1-way player due to his non-existent offense:lol..he's giving good effort on D, I'm content with his energy/activity on that end..his offense is more of a concern, you can't have an offensive liability out there(which is what Patty is when he isn't making 3s, since he isn't a playmaker or conventional PG)..

I didn't catch your jab about Patty now being a defensive specialist. :lol

At least in the current Spurs space-and-pace system, a defense-only player is more of a liability than an offense-only player, especially if it's a perimeter player you rely on for shooting.

Patty is fine, the shots will drop. Mini-Microwave is getting ready to heat up for the playoffs.

He is still working through his injury. Take 9-12 months to gain full mobility in the are after surgery because of the scar tissue and such that forms.

I am still hoping Patty can turn the corner in the next few weeks. If he does, and the way the Spurs are playing right now, it would just be a cherry on top of the icing on the cake.

Patty will have his breakout game in Miami. The last time they were there they had such massive success that the mere act of playing a game in those surroundings will bring back the "feeling".
