Will average 100 or more points in this coming season. With the addition of Finley and NVE could it be possible? Not to mention the progress of Parker and Manu as offensive players.

I know is a long shot with Pop being a defense first coach but what do you think?

Possibly, point differential will definitely be amazing

It's less then 4 more points per game and with the downgrade of talent in the west I see it being more then possible.

Pop's system does not really allow for it, unless he is more lenient with his second unit. If he allows NVE, Finley, and Oberto to push the ball, then it can happen. But, that would of course open up the game and allow for more turnovers and breakdowns in transition defense. Pop would quickly lose the few hairs he has left.

San Antonio has proved over the last few years that they can play any style of basketball and still be successful. But, they are at their best when they dictate pace, tempo and style of the game. I foresee Pop integrating both NVE and Finley as offensive minded players, but ones that will still follow his defensive schemes and offensive patience and deliberate playbook. And, if Pop is successful in doing so, and NVE and Finley are willing students, then I don't see the Spurs averaging 100 points for the regular season. The Spurs' ppg should be higher due to better shooters, but that does not necessarily mean they will be scoring in triple digits a lot.

I do agree that they should have an excellent point differential. But, in saying that, that should mean more blowouts and less time in the fourth quarters with the starters due to blowouts. And, if that's the case, that also likely means that the second and third units will be playing at the end of games, possibly keeping down ppg as well.

I don't care if their offense per game goes up as long as they still manage to stay #1 or #2 in all the major defensive categories. Even last year's Spurs had the potential to average around 100 ppg...

I do think the Spurs have a potential to improve point differential year-over-year. That would really be doing something special, though, because 2004-05 was the best differential they've had since 1998-99, I think.

1998-99 8.1 points
2004-05 7.8 points

For most of last seson they were around 8-9 point range right? It would be cool if the spurs would have a 9 or better point differential.

Actually 2000-01 was within 4 points all season of the total point differential for 2004-05, for the Spurs (+7.76 pt. diff in 2000-2001 vs. +7.8 in 2004-05).
1998-99's Championship team had a +8.1 differential. The Spurs were above that +8.1 level last season but Tim Duncan's injury caused it to go below 8.0 for the season. That's right Manu20.

Pop has to keep everybody happy. I suspect he'll let it be more free flowing, up the tempo, press a bit more. If you have all that depth you might as well use it to your advantage, turning the heat up on opposing teams without that depth. So I wouldn't be surprised if they score at the 100 clip.

If it does, and the defense stays the same....damn. That being said...I don't think it will.

I don't see it. Part of the defense is allowing fewer possessions by using the entire shot clock on offense. That also limits your own possessions.
