It's not an April Fools' joke. He literally went off on men's college basketball in his press conference today. Does he realize that the worst JV boys' high school team in the country would whoop his team by 80?
Eh, he's probably right. Mens College hoops is pretty sad.. Women at least ...eh i got nothing. Go spurs.

The Elite 8 games were equal if not better than 2014 a NBA Playoffs

"There’s only like ten teams, you know, out of 25, that actually play the kind of game of basketball that you’d like to watch"
"College men’s basketball is so far behind the times it’s unbelievable. I mean women’s basketball is behind the times. Men’s basketball is even further behind the times."
^ Sounds ignorant and bitter
:cry The beautiful game :cry
How the fuck women college basketball coach have right to critise any other sport ? Women basketball is a parody. In volleyball the net is lowered for women at least.

problem with women's basketball isn't that their game is shitty, but that they wear too much tbh. It's not like those tennis girls all look so much better than those playing basketball, but at least they show their legs up to the top of their thighs to compensate your eyes
I cant imagine the shitstorm if anybody dared to call out women`s basketball

He mentioned that women's basketball isn't good either, but everything he said about men's college basketball is correct. Its an atrocious product and much worse than the early 90s NBA.

Its the truth. Its an atrocious product overall. Scoring is so hard for these kids. Ball movement is poor, defenders mug on every possession. Its horrible and everything he said is correct. He even criticized women's basketball.

Men's college basketball is basically over-glorified intramurals basketball. That's why no one watches it till March Madness since the product sucks.

He's right. Watch a game from the late '80s or early '90s involving Billy Tubbs's Oklahoma teams, Nolan Richardson's Arkansas teams, Tark's UNLV teams, etc. and compare those games to those of today. It looks like a completely different sport.

It certainly is ugly. I've only been able to stomach a few games of the tourney this year. It's just not exciting. Defenses have gotten so athletic and they're allowed to play so physically that it's no wonder teams just whittle the 35 down looking for a half-decent shot.

This is the important part. Actually calling the fouls that occur would result in decreased parity, meaning fewer upsets in the tournament. At least, that's the theory. Nevermind that three #1 seeds made the Final Four.

The consistency of foul calls in the NBA is bad, in college it's absolutely terrible. I don't think the sporadic nature of foul calls hurts the big schools at all, in fact probably the opposite is true. The only low seed in the FF is... Michigan State.

Then obviously you also don't appreciate
- Baseball
- Seattle Seahawks
- Barcelona/Real Madrid/English Football
- 4 of the 5 Spurs Titles
Many of you in this thread don't enjoy the College game because you don't recognize the players, there is less flamboyance and you have an issue with White middle aged coaches being the centerpiece
7 games of the same two teams playing is so exciting. The NCAA Tournament is hard fought and the shortness of the games leaves you wanting more. Who is actually pathetic enough to watch an entire NBA Playoffs series not involving their favorite team?

Calling you out right here. Purists of a sport love 7 game series because they enjoy watching the matchups and coaching decisions that can impact the way each game plays out like it's own unique narrative, that, after 6-7 games can combine into a fantastic piece of entertainment. Adjustments are the lifeblood of strategic sports, watching the mental battle evolve parallel to the physical.

Not to mention the one edge that lower-seeded teams commonly have over higher seeds is their speed and athleticism on the perimeter. A free-flowing game might actually help the lower seeds in a lot of cases.

If you slimmed down from 7 to 5, no one would notice. Those 2 extra games are just money grabbing fillers. Not to mention they've already played 82 regular season games, so faced off 2 to 4 times prior.
In Sports: nothing beats 1 game elimination. It is a big reason why the NFL and Soccer are the two most exciting postseasons.

Playoff hockey is the most exciting postseason, and they have series.

He's not wrong. They need to extend the 3pt line, that should improve the spacing allowing teams to run some PnR and give the bigs more room to operate in the paint. It will also ensure that only the elite shooters attempt 3pt shots instead of every fucking scrub jacking them up. They also need to reduce the shot clock to 28 secs, it should help improve the pace of the game.

There are also no big name stars in CBB anymore due to the fact that everyone good who plays leaves after a year and shits the bed in the NBA. They need to take away the one and done rule and produce some star names at the college level, where hopefully people will watch more, and then continue on when they become NBA stars at the next level.

I don't watch European soccer so I won't speak to that.
But I enjoy a good pitcher's duel in baseball and Seattle's defense is stout as well, but college basketball isn't about good defense as it is about poor shooting, defenders clearly mugging, poor ball movement. Its so different than watching a pitcher's duel or a stout NFL defense. Teams just can't score because they're not skilled enough.
You mention baseball, yet you criticize a 7 game series.

:lol what
I don't think college teams aimlessly pass, but they pass to compensate for their lack of talent, but conversely aren't talented enough(most teams anyway) to run a motion offense with the proficiency of the Spurs or any NBA team
Also :lol 35 second shot clock

He's right. I have watched both. Men's basketball is about who gets the best recruits and they basically through their athleticism and talent win.
Women's game is more like the Spurs. It's more system basketball. That is why you are seeing more high drafted recruits fail in the NBA nowadays as team's are now going to system basketball. Most of these recruits would love to join OKC, as if you watch last night game, all Brooks had to say was that his team needed to beat SA with its athleticism. Sorry coach but this isn't '12 WCF or Men's College Basketball. This is the NBA where the Spurs have perfected their system on both ends of the floor and will mop the floor with any team that thinks they can win that way.
That is why Dallas has been tough for the Spurs. Coach Rick actually understands the Spurs system, and has devised a system of his own to counter it.

Do you know the end of period strategy of getting a two for one. You don't start a play until like 7/8 seconds left on the shot clock and try to leave on 5-7 seconds more than 24 shot clock that resets on you opponents next possession.
I am sure you don't remember, but OKC missed their shot and Green hit a 3 and 1 to finish the quarter on a 4-point play and 10 point lead. Seems like the strategy worked perfectly here.
