According to this article, the colored stripe on the bottom of the tube tells much:

I bet when you buy the one with the black strip, it just sits on your toothbrush and complains about why white teeth is the standard.

Better not use it if you have gold teefus though. They might come up missing.

Purpose of the Square Color Labels

Consumers were filled with the belief that these color squares were truthful in relaying the hidden message of harmful products, but they are untrue in the toothpaste industry. The paste manufacturers do not tell packaging companies which color to mark the squares to indicate the chemicals used in paste. They are solely used as eye marks, which are read by electronic eyes in modern packaging machinery. The marks tell the machine where to cut and crimp the tubes, and the color is based on the resemblance of the text labeled. If the text is marked with blue then the eye mark is matched with blue.

The claim that spread to consumers does not need to be followed, as many items printed in color possess similar square and rectangle marks. Newspapers, canned goods, and plastic bags are also marked with such eye marks to help during the printing process of the brand.

Effective toothpaste is easy to make at home with hydrogen peroxide and baking soda.

H2O2 is an oxidizer and an irritant. Repeated use can irritate the papillae on the tongue causing them to elongate. They then take up stain from foods/drinks resulting in a condition called brown hairy tongue.

Depends on the concetration. 30% would make his tongue snow white (and hurt like hell). 70% would start a fire on anything combustible. Diluted from 3% down is ok. I generally rinse my toothbrush in diluted H2O2. I also gargle it at times.

Just brush/floss and use a chewable oral probiotic before you go to bed. Clean teeth, healthy gums, no more morning breath.

Kind of confirmed my suspicions. the tabs looked too much like the other printed colors on the tube, I had thought they were the kind of marks used to align the colors for printing on the tubes.

Thanks.

I figure mostly sand is in my toothpaste.

BigOil invented plastic micro-beads to replace cheap sand as abrasive.

micro-beads are very persistent, fucking up people, animals, etc.
