He's deserved it all season long but manhandling Curry might be what was needed for the media to really take notice. They cream their pants over Curry's ballhandling and Kawhi made him his bitch on multiple occasions. Additionally, one of his main competitors (Draymond Green) didn't have anywhere near the defensive impact Kawhi did.

Defensive player of the year.

Zach Lowe also has him on third team All NBA. Had he not missed games early on I'd think it's more likely. Weak year for forwards.

First player in modern NBA history to drop 25+ and 7+ steals in less than 25 minutes IIRC..

Lol third team.

Davis/Lebron/Marc and Aldridge/Griffin/Cousins, so will be hard to jump to second.

Remember, this isn't what I think but how people will vote.

3rd team is a joke. What forwards are better than him?

Kind of hard to argue with. He's doing what Bowen did in far more spectacular fashion, plus he's got some stats to back it up.

Kawhi is the best perimeter defender in the league. No SF is better.

Yup Bowen needed the stats, now we got em let's see what happens

He should fucking get it, we'll see though. It seems like no one in the national media is talking him up to get it. The other day Jalen Rose and others were saying Draymond fucking Green should win it. :td

That was really impressive. I thought for sure he was going to finally get a 30 point game but 26 is less than 30.

Green had a poor game, but its not right to discount his entire season's body of work because of it :lol

I'm not. Just think Kawhi is more deserving of it really. Draymond can take the Most improved player award, either him or Jimmy Butler. The DPOY should go to Kawhi..

I think Kawhi missed too many games to be seriously considered, tbh. I don't agree with it, but I think that's what they'll say. It will likely be between DeAndre Jordan, Rudy Gobert, and Draymond Green, imo.

It's all about the media. Kawhi would probably be the season mvp if he played for the Lakers.:lol

I think it strengthens his case given the Spurs are essentially a .500 team without him and easily one of the top teams in the league with him.

Kawhi is definitely the best perimeter defender in the league. They better give him that shit. Who cares how much time he missed? We were mediocre at best without him, that's saying something.
