Technically they can select two SFs to be on the first team. They simply select two "forwards." Are there any PFs better than him this season? Davis should be a C.

The C position is so weak, they should really put Davis as a C. I agree.

I don't think Kawhi deserves first team with the time he missed though.

Imo,

Curry, Harden, Lebron, Aldridge, Davis.

if Kawhi had been playing like this pre-all star break and didn't miss substantial time, he'd be getting MVP consideration the same way paul george was. it's tough for somebody on the spurs to stand out enough to get votes, but this post-asb, and more specifically, post-february kawhi has been a top 5-10 player in the league

Griffin will get 2nd team..3rd team at worst. I dont think he deserves it over Aldridge.

2nd team will most likely be

Paul, Westbrook, M. Gasol, P. Gasol, Griffin.

Leonards shot is 3rd team..

who knows though..maybe voters want a legitimate SF in 2nd team and he gets in.. I dont see it.

His ORPM has jumped up significantly, by over a point, his DRPM is also creeping up bit by bit.

He's starting to take control of the offense, he could easily be #1.

Sort the stats by WAR, which is cumulative value.
Note that Leonard is ahead of Westbrook, even though Westbrook has played more.
Note that Westbrook is getting lots of talk as MVP.

I have never seen a player make others look like straight chumps when he snatches that pebble from their hands as consistently as he does. And then be deadly efficient on offense...
It's amazing and his confidence is looking so strong right now. A good stretch to show him how good he is for Pop if he ever gets those moments where his faith lags. If ever...

No doubt he is a top 5 impact player in this league. He can control games without scoring much, or efficiently and he usually does and is.
What a coup from the draft. We should be so lucky as fans... Especially the longtime ones that suffered through great players like Gervin and Gilmore not getting to the promised land and then the Great Tease of the 90's that was David Robinson led teams that just couldn't quite get it done. These have been the halcyon days.

I hope he retires a Spurs and is recognized as one of the true Team Greats. Get that #2 up there in the rafters- he already deserves it more than #8. He could honestly end up being the second best ever to wear the Silver and Black, at the end of the day.

If Kawhi's RPM is so high, why is his WAR so low? Is it because he's missed almost 20 games?

Basically. Averages less minutes per game and has missed more games.

Probably since LeBron/AD missed time too and they're around the same range.

I meant #6. My bad. Avery should have never had his jersey retired and I was there when he hit that last shot against the Knicks.

I remember '99 and the years before and after. No way his number should have been retired. That guy was always a marginal NBA player at best.

Agreed. A more storied franchise would have never even considered retiring AJ's number, but the Spurs at the time only had 4 jerseys in the rafters IIRC. If that championship really did prevent the Spurs from leaving San Antonio, the case becomes stronger though it's still weak.

Probably because he's new to the team and has a significant role so he needs more time to adjust to other players and vice versa. He was around +5 in the previous 2 seasons. He is very good given how much time he had to adjust.

Yeah, I agree. There are more diverse reactions on this board and mostly Spurs talk (name drop) so the circlejerking is kept to a minimum. That's why I post here, but not on reddit (not that Spurstalk doesn't have its own problems). Circlejerking can be useful and fun (like on this tread right now), but too much can make The Rod too raw to continue.

8480441Duncan and Parker have seen quite the hit during that time frame..

Tim's ORPM has taken a hit (can be traced back to time the knee issue arose) but his DRPM has been consistent, it's just that Bogut was a defensive monster in February thus passed him up for the #1 spot.
