View Full Version : Finally Had Enough and Found the Control to Block Haters, Time Wasters, and Trolls.

I'm a laid back guy who usually has a live and let live attitude--but I've finally had enough of the bullshit from a couple of posters. Sometimes your eye is drawn to a post regardless of your vow to ignore their blatherskate. They are haters, time wasters and trolls who are only on the site to feed their egos INHO.

I finally remembered that there was a mechanical way to simply block their posts from the threads I want to read via the control panel. So far I've blocked two and expect to block a couple more.

I expect my enjoyment of Spurstalk to rise and my blood pressure to go down.

Care to join me in sending a message?

Making a thread about blocking people is like writing a note to your ex to tell her how much you've gotten over her.

Actually it isn't like that at all because you might want to hear from your ex because you're a sick weak puppy, but I don't ever want to hear from these MFs again. Clever comment though.

Agree completely. I have been on this site for years, mostly as a lurker but the last couple of years it seems that the number of trolls have increased significantly. I stayed away for a couple of months until I realized that there was an ignore button. It doesn't solve all problems but my enjoyment of the site has increased significantly.

Why let posts on a message board make your blood pressure rise to begin with???

Just ignore it and move on.

I can guarantee you it will be the case. I barely read Spurstalk this season. Now that I have removed the "noise" thanks to the ignore feature, I realize there's still a lot of great "signal" on this forum, and I enjoy reading it again.

Wasn't meant as a slam. Block people all you want, why start threads about it? You're making noise about making noise.

Wasn't meant as a slam. Block people all you want, why start threads about it? You're making noise about making noise.

The purpose wasn't to make noise about making noise. It was to remind a lot of folks and to let newbies know that they can control this plague. I doubt that many of our new posters know they have the power to close those people off by clicking on their name in the upper right hand; going to the control panel and then to edit function.

I probably didn't handle or explain the post too well and any opportunity to educate some folks on the forum was lost in the chuckles over your post, whether it appropriately described my post or not.

I know you think these pests will just go away:

"They treat it like getting game credits when they get a response like yours. If everyone realized it and ignored it, it would go away. There's always a bite though, and often it's from the "I'm too smart for this and you're trolling" fish."

But I think Cry Havoc's response to you is right:
"When no one responded there were over 100 threads made in a month about it. They don't care who's listening as long as they can listen to themselves talking. You ever seen a 5 year old who won't stop talking? They will yammer on all fucking day without any responses or encouragement. Same shit here."

It just bugs me to see almost every thread completely taken over by idiots for page after page with the same tired posts. And occasionally they even contradict themselves: See posted thread on Duncan stat padding with a post lauding his great stats. When I saw that on the same page of threads, I decided to act.

But I understand your point, even though I disagree. I'd rather be pro-active and put roach powder out than hope they'll eat everything in the house and leave.

Making a thread about blocking people is like writing a note to your ex to tell her how much you've gotten over her.

It's almost as bad as pretending to be banned.

Nowhere near as egregious as announcing a leave of absence tbh.

Maybe we should start a kind of faq thread about the ability to ban people,, but then bump that thread in a passive aggressive style whenever someone is stinking up the joint with over aggressive player fan takes.

But also, if you survived xmas and sbm these brew guys are lightweights. Rob Diaz will figure it out, fkla will always hate, dabom is an alt.

Oh and lol op for "new people" no one here is new.
