Do you think gs will play all out to beat memphis to help Spurs get the 2. Youn think Kerr would do that and say meet you in the wcf.

This has been debated in multiple threads for the better part of a week, but I'll humor you. There's a solid chance that Kerr goes at least 75% on the Grizz. Curry probably wants another chance or two to solidify his MVP candidacy, not that Kerr gives much of a shit about it in the long run, but it's likely at least crossed their mind as a team that they can push the Spurs out of their bracket and sic the Clippers on them in round 2. However, if Houston shits the bed tonight against New Orleans, Memphis and the Spurs winning out puts Memphis in the 2 seed and the Spurs in the 3, so GSW still gets to avoid SA in the semis without having to do anything.

there's a chance neither Marc Gasol nor Mike Conley will even suit up for the game... though Marc is known for gutting it out
Uhh, have you been following the nba? Resting down the stretch...out. Resting throughout the season..in
Kerr has his young team at near peak perf you don't mess with that by throwing games.
Now Houston.....I will burn that city down if they lose tonight

Those faggots will probably do their usual routine: play all the starters, try really hard, and then if they lose, claim after the game that they weren't really trying because their seed is locked up.

Now that Houston is about to lose to New Orleans, I can see Kerr tanking the Memphis game to put the Grizzlies at #2 and us at #3.

We'd be at 5 in that scenario. If Kerr wants the Spurs on the other side of the bracket, he'll play to win against Memphis.

Yeah pretty sure Kerr would want to avoid the Spurs for as long as he can, so yeah he'll play his guys tomorrow.

Okay, let me rephrase that. Now that Houston is about to win, I can see Kerr tanking the Grizzlies game tomorrow so Memphis can be #2 and us #3.
Is that correct?

we'd still be 5. clippers have the tiebreaker on us unless we win the division

Ah, I see. Thanks for the clarification. Good to know then that Kerr has no incentive to lose the game tomorrow. :tu

If that scenario happens we go to #5. We only have the tiebreaker with the LAC if we win the division.

Kerr wants as many wins as he can get. He's not just thinking about post season despite his comments. He's thinking about regular season record, about Curry's bid for MVP, about sending a message to his team and to the West that they don't ever stop playing. All games are meaningful, that's how Kerr will approach it.
Then when he's out of the playoffs because of a turned ankle to a star player, he'll reconsider the importance of the regular season. He's not stupid though, he knows about momentum going into the playoffs, losing games isn't how you get there.

of course the warriors will win, because if they don't and the spurs keep the 5th seed, that means they will play us in teh 2nd round. Do you think they want to play us in the 2nd round? I would much rather be 5th seed cuz I hate playing dallas in teh playoffs. I don't want that 2nd seed.

They tried to win tonight. Not enough talent to beat the Clips.

Assuming we beat the Pelicans in the season finale... we clinch the 2 seed if:
a) Memphis loses a game... can be as soon as tomorrow against Golden State
OR
b) if Houston wins out... remaining games @ charlotte and vs Jazz

Dallas is going down in flames. Any team coached by Carlisle is a tough out, but this isn't 2014 anymore and the Spurs should wax that ass.
I'd have been fine with a five-seed finish, tbh. To get to the Finals, the Spurs will have to get through GSW, whether it's in the second round or in the conference finals. They'll either beat them or they won't.
GS is likely getting Houston or Memphis in Round 2, and they'll double tap either of those fuckers en route to a WCF berth. The Spurs will likely have to deal with LA, which has gone favorably for them in the past but would be a much tougher out.
In all honesty, if the Spurs were to finish fifth AND beat GSW in the second round, they'd then have to contend with whichever teams from the 2-7/3-6 matches played in the second round. Finishing fifth likely means Memphis getting the 2 seed and LA getting the 3, the Spurs (hypothetically) upsetting GSW in Round 2, then facing Memphis, Houston, or LA in the WCF. There's simply no cakewalk to the Finals. Might as well have HCA for as much of it as possible and leave the Dubs as the only thing separating them from a third straight WC crown.

If the Rockets and Grizzlies win out... The Spurs get the 2nd seed regardless.. Due to having a better overall head to head record between the 3 teams... So this game isn't that important

Looking at the games the Clippers and Grizzlies have left, I can see both winning out if the Warriors tank so we'll be stuck with the 5 seed and have a super rough road to the Finals.
Kinda sucks. Looking back at the entire season, all we needed was one of those losses to be a win for the 2 seed.

Warriors are going to destroy them, tbh..
A win keeps the Spurs out of their bracket, and creates a likely Spurs-Clippers 2nd round series, which is perfect for the Warriors..not to mention Kerr has still been playing his starters and Memphis is banged up..

Why is it important for Houston to win out?
to maintain a 3-way tie between the Spurs/Rockets/Grizzlies
in a 3 way tie, the spurs have the advantage. if the rockets drop and we just have a Spurs/Grizz tie, Memphis wins the division

I think the fact that Curry is a lead MVP candidate and its a GSW home game play more into it than anything
Theyll want to put on a show for the fans & the Grizz wont be full strength plus already playing mediocre ball
Let's take care of business and beat NO. Last thing I want to happen is to be in position to win the division and for Clippers to jump to 2 seed and Spurs to fall to 3 or 5. 6 seed at this point is still possible until Spurs win, Houston loses again or another team loses 2x.

BTW Kerr said after last game that he was going to play Curry more in the final games than during the regular season to get him ready to play ~38mpg in the playoffs. That obviously makes it even harder for Memphis.
