And all the Spurs have to show for it is the same seeding and exhausted bodies. Thank God we got 5.

Why do you think it was a waste? They still won 21 out of 25 games. That's pretty fucking awesome, and indicates that they are overall the hottest team going into the playoffs.

The Pelicans needed to win this game. It was an elimination game for them. It's really not that surprising.

It was a waste of time. They were 6th before the streak and 6 going into the playoffs.

No it wasn't. Would you rather them have a mediocre record and the 8 seed? This is the most competitive western conference of all time, and that's just the way it is.

Final result is the same, yep. You would have to hope the growth of Kawhi and the return to form of Diaw during the past 25 games made it worthwhile.

Seriously deflating loss though. Spurs definitely need the Golden God defensively.

All that said, Spurs will be slightly favored vs the Clippers. If the Spurs play the same brand of basketball they showed last year in the playoffs, the lack of home court will not be a big deal IMO. If these guys are healthy and locked in, I see them getting at least a 1-1 split in the first 2 road games of any series.

Don't need to be perfect. They weren't perfect last year either. But they stepped up, executed and cut out the mistakes when they needed to, be it game 7 vs Mavs, game 6 vs OKC, game 3 vs Miami after losing HCA, game 5 vs Miami after trailing big early.

Actually, the Spurs good play down the stretch got them one thing.

If they play LeBron in the Finals again, they have HCA.

It may not seem like much now, but it could look good later. Maybe.

And yet they will play without HCA for the entire playoffs unless they miracle into the Finals and it's not the Hawks out of the east. Sucks man. Just needed one more win and only 2 potential teams would have had HCA on us.

Yeah, it was just unfortunate that we had to play the Pelicans in their playoff play-in game. But that doesn't change the fact that the Spurs are the hottest team in the NBA of the last 25 games. We're still the most dangerous team that nobody wants to face.

Our Spurs will try to duplicate what the Rockets did in 1995-1996 season winning the title as 6th seeded team earning them their back to back championships! Coincidence that our Spurs are trying to do the same back to back title! #gospursgo

Wow, not the fact that the Spurs start finally put it together, but all that work and nothing to show for it. They did. They showed they are still one of the best teams in the NBA and many experts, not saying I care what they think, believe the Spurs will still represent the West because of their recent play.

Everyone was bitching and hoping the Spurs could turn it around after that 4 game losing streak. They do, and they still continue to bitch.

No one cares what the experts think. The fact of the matter is they went all-out to get HCA in at least one round and ended up falling short and into the worst-case scenario: playing the second-hottest team in the first round without homecourt while being gassed and injured.

They went all out. What are you talking about. They just played Spurs basketball and started putting things together. Read my posts after that 4 games losing streak, I wouldn't be least surprise if they put together a run like they did last year because they were finally healthy.

Gassed, dude, the Spurs were just coasting until the end of February. They aren't exhausted. Nobody was playing major minutes. Pop was still managing minutes. You sound like they knew they were going to be in this scenario. They just played Spurs injury free basketball and the wins just came with it.

Wow, the meltdown of people after one loss. Brings me back to when the Spurs were down 2-1 to the Mavs. This team wants another. Pop just gave the game away last night. Probably to avoid the Mavs and to stick it to OKC. If there is one team in this league that can win 4 straight series w/o HC out west, its the Spurs.

Clippers are hot. They had a cakewalk of a schedule after the allstar break. They are not hot. Clippers had their toughest schedule mid season where they lost all those games to playoff teams. It was the reverse of the Mavs schedule, who had all theses cakewalk EC teams at the beginning of their season, Clippers had a bunch of these at the end of their season.

Two things, if the Blazers didn't such against OKC this probably wouldn't even matter, and the Spurs lost way too many easy games for this game to matter. I wasn't surprised either, but as I look at how the Spurs were 1 game away from the 2 seed, what pisses me off are the losses to the Lakers, Knicks, Cavs, then the bad luck games like Portland where Danny made that three but the ball was on the tip of his fingernail when the shot clock buzzer went off. It's as if the Spurs weren't meant to have the 2 seed. Maybe they're destined for a record setting playoff performance.
