I know most of the focus for Spurs fans right now is on the playoffs, and rightfully so. But the NBA did come out with some news today that will have significant impact this summer and over the next few years. As a result of the new TV deal, the salary cap is expected to rise from $67M this summer to $89M in 2016 and $108M in 2017.

I know many expected a large jump, but now teams know it's a projected $22M increase in one year. I'm not sure of the implications for the Spurs this summer, but I would guess big offers are coming for Green and the other role players in anticipation of a cap room in 2016.

The run to the title is gonna be fun, but so is what will follow shortly after.

That's crazy, but expected.

This is bad news for the spurs in terms of Keeping Green.

I'm positive some GM's will be paying him 55 in 4...as much as 60 even..I wouldn't be surprised at all.

Draft Rashad Vaughn out of UNLV this year imo. He's a Danny clone and should be available when we select.

Cap jumping one year from now doesn't mean people are flowing with cap space this summer. Would much rather have Danny be a FA this year than next, as well as Kawhi (though won't max deal track the new cap?)

Quite a few teams have cap space this year, Atlanta, Spurs, Dallas, LAL, Boston, Philly (who could make a play at an RFA), and Toronto. Leonard would be locked in on a 5 year $90 million dollar deal if he gets maxed, i believe. That deal will look like peanuts if the cap does jump to $108 million in 17-18. He would be making less than 17% of the cap.

i would be very surprised. Green is a free agent this offseason, and i dont think teams would be willing to pay him 13-14 mil for 2016. that would be approaching the max

the only situation that would "scare" me is if Green holds out for a 1 year deal, but players rarely do so because of injury risk and guaranteed money

$67.1 million is short of what the Spurs needed to clear out max cap space. They needed around $68.5 and to move Mills deal without taking on salary. That could have put them within $1 million of $20 million in cap space.

Asking Gasol to give up a 5th year (unless of an S&T) and taking a 4 year deal around $76 million deal would cost him $24 million.

I'd rather the Spurs go resign Baynes (2 Years, $8 million), Cojo (3 Years $10 million), & Green (5 Years, $ 50 million) to deals.

and use the remaining cap space on stop gap big, like Brandan Wright until the Spurs figure out their next move post Duncan.
