View Full Version : The Spurs will destroy the Clippers in Game 2.

Uriel

If we were going to lose Game 1, we did it in the best possible fashion. First, we regained our 3-point shooting towards the end, with Mills, Bellinelli, and even Green finally connecting on 3-pointers. Second, we lost in blowout fashion, which will only motivate our guys to play harder.

With two days off until Game 2, you can bet this loss will simmer in the Spurs' heads, while the Clippers will grow overconfident from the media kissing their asses all day long. Expect our guys to come out guns blazing in Game 2.

No amount of motivation will fix the glaring obvious that the spurs don't have an elite penetrator to the basket. That's the system that the spurs rely on. manu is 38 and Tony plays like he is 38. I said LA wins this in 5. I hope I am wrong.

No one should look too much into Game 1 as it usually takes adjustments and familiarity to get used to an opponent. On the bright side, we played as poor of a game as long as I can remember, and we still had a shot to take the lead in the 3rd quarter. I expect Pop to make adjustments especially with them doubling Kawhi in the post. A lot of times, usually the teams that play harder end up winning and that was the case today. Clippers feed off that energy from the crowd and feed off Blake/Deandre's dunking. Once Blake posterized Baynes twice, it was game over.

I'm still rather confident (60/40 we win the series). I think our depth will eventually wear the Clippers down, especially Paul, who always seems to have big game 1's and then slowly tapers off. And the FT bug (which bit us tonight) will spell doom for the Clippers at some point in a tight game.

Though Pop's rotations concerned me tonight. Beli had a good game, which invariably means more minutes for the worst wing defender in the NBA. And Mills needs more minutes. Then of course there's the French elephant in the room.

Don't think they can play any worse, but at the same time don't think LA played their best either majority of the game. Hopefully Tiago can play a lot more, better ball movement, Kawhi/Green start on Paul, Parker/Manu have a better shooting game and aren't sloppy.

Uriel
04-20-2015, 03:49 AM
My biggest reasons for being optimistic in Game 2 are: motivation and 3-point shooting. Human nature dictates that the Clippers will relax slightly after that convincing win, while the Spurs will be highly motivated after being embarrassed in Game 1. Moreover, given that this team lives and dies by the 3, the fact that our shooters seemed to have found their touch late in the game sets them up nicely for an impressive performance in Game 2.

Combined, these two factors lead me to believe that the Spurs will bounce back in a big way.

Must win gamehttp://cdncache-a.akamaihd.net/items/it/img/arrow-10x10.png (http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/) obviously, but if we win, it won't be a blowout. Clips are too good and we don't have Tiago. Probably a close game down the stretch.

Doubt it. It'll be a close game most likely. Paul will destroy Parker though. That's their biggest mismatch in this series. They have the best point guard in the NBA while we have one of the worst starting for our team. Just gotta hope everybody else steps up to offset Parker's shittyness like they did throughout all of the playoffs last year.

All the pressure is on the Spurs now to win game 2, they played poorly in game 1. If they lose it than the Clippers will start smelling blood and try and win a game in San Antonio to go up either 3-0 or 3-1. So if Spurs want to win this series, they have to take the next game in LA or they are giving the Clippers even more momentum. The Spurs are their own worst enemy now, they are playing like sh*t to start these playoffs, if they don't start playing better and fast it could be an early exit for the defending champs. This Clippers team is capable of scoring 100+ every game, cannot shoot that poorly against them in game 2 and expect to win. The West is so stacked this year anyone can beat anyone, it's all who is playing better.

Dude, Pop coached the game perfectly. He managed minutes and gave everyone a chance to fill their grove. Clippers treated last night's game like a game 7 from the opening tipoff. I am sorry, just like the Heat last year and many others, that what it does take to beat the Spurs, but you aren't going to do it for 4 games in a 7 games series, especially when your starters are playing close to 40 minutes a night.

The difference between the Mavs and Clippers from last year, the Mavs actually had a bench. Clippers have no bench outside of Jamal Crawford. All it takes is one off game from Paul or Griffin and more than likely the Clippers will lose a game w/o the Spurs even playing their best.

Pop knew the Clippers would come out like this game was a must win and didn't even bother to match it. Instead, he saw Doc's game plan and now he has two games to prepared and the Spurs are going to go bank for the game on Wednesday. I am sure the Spurs have a game plan and Pop wasn't going to utilize in game 1. Its just smart coaching.

Nothing convincing about it tbh. Spurs shot 36.6 from the field and 58 percent from the line on 26 attempts. This in addition to 14 turnovers, many of which were live balls.

Despite that, the Spurs were still in the game with 6 minutes and change left....on the road no less.

They'll be fine.

Thats what made me nervous .if this teams was ready to go they should have handled their business and took the pelicans out for that #2 seed .now they have a hungry, primed and motivated team with hca up 1-0 starring them in the face

i believe the spurs aren't done ,they sure can't play any worse. starts with ft's and playing with more passion. the clippers punched them in the face well c how our spurs respond

Clippers treated last night's game like a game 7 from the opening tipoff.

That's funny, because we sucked ass for most of the first half and even well into the third quarter until that sequence by Blake. If that's how this team is going to treat a Game 7, we're fucked.

Clippers shot meh in the first half, but they were playing some of the best defense I've seen from them. They started hitting their shots in the second half. Both teams can play better, but the Spurs can play much better.
