View Full Version : Replace Enrique with Leandro Barbosa...

Fast, quick, good finisher at the rim, can shoot the three, but with poor courtvision and poor PG skills. Assume Pop tamed him and made him more than just a scoring blur, similar to what he did with young Enrique. Do the Spurs even miss a beat during the title winning years?

Not happening. Parker has become Pop's prodigal son. Enjoy dribble dribble dribble dribble....

Apples and Oranges, tbh... Tony is injured.

To be fair, during Tony's poor playoff runs(2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, a few others in between, 2014), he was always injured IIRC..strained hamstrings, broken ankles, I think he played 1 year on half a leg, he was missing 2 fingers in 2014 IIRC..

Barbosa is/was horrible. He is a crazy wild dribbler.

No.

God No.

Welcome to another addition of FKLA's random thoughts. Yes folks we've been treated to many great FKLA takes including timeless hits like: "shut down enrique" and "why won't pop shut down enrique"

This current hit packs a punch and glides in as if on air. You don't know what hit you until you lift yourself off the floor. BARBOSA. The name of beast, familiar, but still foreign. Kudos to FKLA for an A+ thread. Barbosa, genius man, just good

Replace our aging, injury-prone PG with another old, injury-prone PG. Brilliant. What's option C, tbh

Regarding the injury excuse: he is a small (basketball size) guy who specialized in driving into contact. The dude earned his injuries. Much like another oft injured guy we know and love around here.

His dunk on Bosh on a broken leg last year was epic tho.... warrior, tbh

So much underwhelming playoff runs from Tony. Mid-2000s Parker was the worst - Highly inefficient and incredibly selfish. Timmy and Manu were in their prime and this French asshole would takes more shots than either of 'em. Took more shots than TD in '04 Lakers series. Took more shots than Duncan and Manu throughout the '06 playoffs. Easily the biggest choke artist of his generation.

Thank god he wasn't shut down. I don't know where the Spurs would be without his 10 ppg average in April. Or his 10 pts, 1 assts, 2 TOs on 4/11 shooting in the playoffs. I haven't even gone into his world class defense either, the defense would fall apart without him tbh.

Obviously not. But young Enrique was once a wild horse until Pop tamed him too. I'm simply asking, what if Pop got his hands on Barbosa and took the time to tame him just like he did Enrique. They have a similar skillset (fast, quick, good finishers) and similar weaknesses (courtvision, passing), and Barbosa had the advantage of being a better 3 PT shooter.

I guess I'm just wondering if Enrique is just a glorified Barbosa? If Barbosa ends up in SA and if Rique ends up in Phoenix, Barbosa could very well have won championships while Enrique would have gone down as an overrated chucker and probably been out the league by now tbh.

Tony was probably a better finisher than Barbosa was ever going to be. He had a many ways to score in the paint. Barbosa just tries to out athlete his opponent to the rim.

Why stop at Barbosa and not go all the way and take your boy GHill, with whom we would have won at least 5 rings (and counting)?

That's so typical of you: you could have a great take, but settle for a middle-of-a-road one. Dream bigger!

Barbosa is a journeyman that had never cracked the starting lineup in the 6-7 different teams he had played on. Parker is a finals MVP, future HOF, and once considered an NBA MVP. I'd say the Spurs not only miss a beat but they'd also miss out on 4 NBA championships.

I haven't read the OP ("shit takes limit reached--please try again in 24 hours") but it got me thinking nevertheless: maybe we could convince Steve Nash to come out of retirement. Maybe he can hip-check CP0 into the scorer's table. This series seriously lacks drama.

This is some weak ass trolling. Barbosa is one of the worst basketball players I have ever seen, and the only time he wasn't horrible in the playoffs was in those two series against the Lakers in 2006 and 2007.
