Tim Duncan is the difference between the spurs still being in the dark ages or being one of the three or four most successful NBA franchises of all time. Honestly, this team is going to fall apart the second he retires. It couldn't be any more apparent just how important he is to everything the spurs have done and everything they're still doing. There is nobody currently in the league other than an Anthony Davis who could replace his production and value — at age 39.

What a performance by Tim. I was so nervous that he was going to get called for his 6th foul on that amazing block right after he picked up his 5th.

Having said that, this game made me nervous. I was pretty confident going into tonight and while they played a hell of a lot better, something is going on because many of the problems still persists. The offense worked so much better, but they still missed FT's and 3's. Let's hope it's just the road because I don't think Spurs can survive missing the good looks they do get - especially with TP not giving the Spurs any point production.

Duncan and Leonard Help Spurs Beat Clippers 111-107 in OT

LOS ANGELES — Three days from his 39th birthday, Tim Duncan keeps getting better with age. He smartly stayed on the court while playing the last eight minutes with five fouls, and recovered from a woeful fourth quarter to steady the Spurs in overtime.

Duncan scored 28 points and fellow NBA Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard added 23 to help San Antonio beat the Los Angeles Clippers 111-107 on Wednesday night, tying their Western Conference playoff series at 1-1.

"He was spectacular," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said of Duncan. "He continues to amaze me with the things that he is able to do. He knows he had to stay on the court and he figured out a way to do it. He continued to be aggressive, which is pretty amazing."

Duncan apologized to his teammates after going 1 of 5 in the fourth, when Manu Ginobili fouled out and Tony Parker was already gone with a right Achilles' injury.

"I was awful," Duncan said. "I missed two or three layups, I made two or three defensive mistakes, got out of position and gave up dunks to DeAndre (Jordan)."

Duncan made up for it in overtime, scoring four straight points, and Patty Mills had eight of his 18 off the bench to give the Spurs a road split.

"Seeing the team play like this today was very important," Ginobili said. "Hopefully we bring the same sense of urgency, the same fire and juice, for Game 3."

The series, the only one of eight in the first round that is tied after two games, moves to San Antonio for Game 3 on Friday night.

"This is going to be a helluva series," Clippers coach Doc Rivers said.

The defending champion Spurs blew 10-point leads in the third and fourth quarters, and got into overtime on a pair of free throws by Mills with 8 seconds left in regulation.

"They are battle-tested," Clippers guard Jamal Crawford said. "They lose Parker, Mills steps in. Manu is out, (Danny) Green steps in. That is what they do. You have to tip your hat to them."

Duncan certainly never had reason to apologize after a performance in which his brilliance far outweighed his blunders, but the 38-year-old perennial All-Star found a way to redeem himself in overtime anyway.

His D on Griffin in the fourth was clutch. Griffin also ran out of gas. He played too many minutes and had nothing left.

Tiago Splitvagina....absolutely abused.
Bobo....no chance in hell.
Aron "The Big Blake Bukkake" Baynes.....murdered over and over again.

Blake Griffin in his absolute prime, probably the most athletic 4 the league has ever seen....

And this 39 year old nigga decides to shut him the FUCK DOWN in the 4th quarter on the road. :lol

Just incredible.

He was our most reliable away performer in the reg season, Continues to carry the team on the road in the playoffs but I don't know if this is sustainable for the rest of the playoffs. We need other players to step up in road games as well.

This guy is incredible. Not sure we'll ever see another player with this sort of longevity.

I have no doubts that he could play for another year or two at a high level. Question will be whether he wants to or not.

I think he wants to. I bet he plays at least another year-- probably two year contract with a player option. I think the only way he would consider walking away is if they go back-to-back, but even then, I think he loves it too much.

He didn't use DJ as leverage haha... he was able to block Griffin's shot and keep DJ from jumping for the alley-oop. Duncan just single-handedly stopped a play simultaneously.

It's obscene the level he's playing at and as great as it is to watch, I hate to say it, but this is getting Bryant in '13 esque. The workload he's carrying and how hard he's playing doesn't seem sustainable. It seems like something has to give at some point.

Obviously, at this point, it's about winning 1 more game and worrying about it after that. But if they can finish it in 6, they'll get 3 days off leading into the Rockets series, then it's every other day until game 7. That means pulling out all the stops to win game 1, but after that, they're going to have to ease his burden.
