View Full Version : Is Bane in the doghouse for his game 1 pouting?

Splits

In Game 1 he played 20 minutes, got posterized a couple of times by Griffin, and lost his composure. He was getting emotional, acting like a little bitch on the court.

Then in Game 2 he gets a DNP-CD.

Prior to Game 3, Pop says he's a definitive "no", implying some sort of injury. Yet he plays during garbage time.

Methinks this is CIAPop teaching him a lesson for his behavior in Game 1.

He doesn't really have a place in this series, tbh..if the Spurs beat the Clippers, he'll play a role vs. Houston, though..we've already seen how he gets under Pedo's skin..

Nah, the implied injury was Pop being nice to save face for Baynes. There's no lesson to be taught, Big Banger isn't so big going against the likes of Blake and DJ and he doesn't have the skills to compensate for not being able to outmuscle an opponent. His only role in this series, if he even gets off the bench, will just be to hack a Jordan until he fouls out.

I don't think it's the doghouse, just not the right player for this series, as HH said... with Tiago getting healthier, his mins were bound to decrease

I just don't know how he could get a pre-game "definitively out" from Pop and then see garbage time. Something's fishy, and his behavior in game 1 is the only real explanation, he lost composure

What are you talking about? He didn't pout nor act like a bitch. He brought some toughness in game 1 that few others did. So he got dunked on a few times - at least he went for the blocks. He was an inch away from rejecting that shit. You're gonna hold that against him for trying?

I like the way he dunks decisively when he catches the ball at the rim, something none of our other big men seem to ever do. Baynes has improved a lot. He's definitely a rotation player now.

When did Pop say definitely no?

And who asked?

Splits

^re-watch the game. His demeanor, the way he was aimlessly sprinting up the court... he lost his temper.

Why was he a "definitive no" before this game?

ElNono
04-25-2015, 01:53 AM
Maybe he was a bit hurt, and Pop was going to save him, but the blowout changed plans... who knows... I'm glad he gave us some minutes. Rather he be out there in garbage time with Bonner and Ayres than having to play Boris or Tiago.

Right. Because Pop is known to risk injury with players in garbage time after declaring them out with injury the same day.

I don't think he pouted or acted like a bitch. He tried hard but he's just outmatched in this series. He'll have a big role against Houston. Which is odd to me, Baynes should be no match for Howard but I guess Howard is enough of a retard that he let's Baynes get under his skin.

This is the long version of the "reporter" quote:

Baynes' playing is a definitive no. He might still play, though, but not probably. Actually, we don't know shit, and it's clear Pop is fucking with us again during pregame conference. And I'm not sure what definitive means. I mean, it definitely means something, unless it doesn't. Probably.

Not so sure on the Houston series. Houston is the best in terms of 3pt defense. The Spurs have been horrid against them from deep. Having 3 bigs who can't shoot outside of the paint and Diaw, who has been poor shooting the ball from 3. Add in Parker, who is a low volume 3pt shooter. Green, whose home/away splits are 47%/35% from 3. Leonard who was barely an above average 3pt shooter and opts not to shoot them some games.

Bonner makes since as the 4th big, that probably only 10 minutes.

Baynes doesn't work in this series. Next series against Houston would expect to see him.

Gagnrath
04-25-2015, 01:42 PM
Baynes actually is fine in this series in limited minutes against Blake, He doesn't really have the ability to out muscle Jordan or the legnth on the defensive end. Not that Jordan is a shooter but Jordan can go up for the ball against him on put backs and Baynes doesn't win that fight for position, and the refs won't call anything for either of them fighting for position unless its intentional wrap-ups or trying to hurt someone. The problem is really that he doesn't have a fast enough or confident enough jumper to draw Jordan out of the paint. ( He's not bad from 12- 17 feet but He doesn't have a fast release or a green light so Jordan can stay home in the paint and still get out to contest nor does he have confident enough ball handling to go around jordan when he comes out to challenge.

I'm actually very impressed with Jordan on defense this series. He is only an athlete on offense but he does well with floor positioning and understanding tendencies on defense which to me argues that there is something weird going on on offense more than him not getting it.

ChumpDumper
04-25-2015, 01:43 PM
Tim, Tiago and Bobo are playing well.

Baynes isn't going to be in the playoff rotation when that is happening.

He might be dusted off if Jordan needs to be hacked again.
